Apprenticeship expansion can redefine employability of students: The expansion of apprenticeship can redefine employability of students. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 target of 50%-GER by 2035 needs a leap in the skill-competencies of students because unemployment of graduates is higher than that of other youth. Linking higher education degrees to the learning-by-doing and learning-while-earning of apprenticeships will make higher education more inclusive and demand-driven.

Mitsubishi Electric launches solutions for various sectors: Mitsubishi Electric Computerized Numerical Controllers (CNCs) launched new solutions under the M80 series with advanced professional packages for varied market segments. The Japanese major claims that the new M80 Series CNC ensures that businesses achieve faster, smoother operation and a better finish, thus, enabling higher productivity and profitability for operations.

Simplilearn collaborates with ILX to offer digital transformation technology training: ILX Group has partnered with Simplilearn to equip companies and professionals in various industries with skills needed for the digital future. Through this latest collaboration, Simplilearn will deliver digital skilling programmes in the fields of Big Data, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Cyber Security. 

NewsCabinet approves Mission Karmayogi to re-skill civil servants for New India: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved Mission Karmayogi, a skill development scheme for civil servants. The government aims to build a future-ready civil service in the country through its Mission Karmayogi scheme. The government will set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), fully owned by it, for the operation of an online platform and facilitate digital learning. The total outlay for the scheme will be Rs 510 crore for the first five years.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh government reviews on skill development colleges: The government of Andhra Pradesh has directed the authorities to expedite the process of identifying sites for construction of skill development colleges. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for the construction of 30 colleges in the entire state to have one Skill Development College for each Parliamentary constituency.

Jammu and Kashmir

International webinar Series on RASSSH 2020 concludes at AS college: IQAC of AS college organizes an international webinar series: IQAC of Amar Singh college organized an international webinar series on ” Recent Advances in Science, Social Sciences and Humanities” (RASSSH-2020).The webinar series commenced on 24th August 2020. As many as 15000 academicians, researchers, professionals and students participated in the webinar series and were awarded the e-Certificates. 

Two Tata Tech CIITs to come up in Jammu and Kashmir by November 2020: The government of Jammu and Kashmir is going to establish two CIITs in Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Tata Technologies. The two centres are being built at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu and Government Polytechnic College, Baramulla and shall be established at a cost of approximately Rs 360 crores.

Kerala

100-day action plan for boosting Kerala’s socio-economic status: The government of Kerala announced a 100-day action plan for mitigating the sufferings faced by the people due to COVID-19 pandemic. 100 projects will be completed as part of it to boost the socio-economic status of Kerala. This would directly benefit about 88 lakh ration cardholders in the state.

Maharashtra

Registration for vocational courses rose by over 15%: Registration to vocational courses in ITIs in Maharashtra has increased by over 15% this year as compared to 2019. From 280,000 pre-admission registrations that were recorded last year, DVET received around 326,000 registrations this time round; the process ending earlier this week.

Tamil Nadu

Alagappa University students develop UV-C based air disinfectant unit: Students from Alagappa University developed a cost effective UV-based air disinfection unit for air conditioners. This UV-C based air disinfectant unit would be fitted in the AC machines in all departments, offices, labs and important meeting halls of Alagappa University.
