MANUU introduces job oriented B.Voc degree courses: Maulana Azad National Urdu University has introduced two new Bachelor of Vocational courses, namely Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Imaging Technology under the National Skill Qualification Frame Work programme

Pune University offers course in soft services : Those interested in a career in the soft services industry can now join, the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Facilities Management, offered by Department of Management Sciences, PUMBA at the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

According to Academicians in Amritsar, Vocational education is the need of the hour: City schools under CBSE in Amritsar feel that vocational education is the need of the hour, they aim to prepare students for a specific profession. The board has come up with new set of skill courses in this session for classes IX to XII for which many schools have expressed their willingness. Artificial intelligence for classes IX and X and yoga, early childhood care and education, has also been introduced for classes XI and XII.

Regulator to start and ITI’s to be revamped for skilling youth: MSDE is planning to make youth job ready by Operationalising the skills regulator, an enhanced apprenticeship programme and rejuvenation of 2,500 ITIs to impart improved training.

Toyota sets up Centre of Excellence at MAHE : The Toyota Kirloskar Motor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal to set-up a Toyota Centre of Excellence at Manipal Institute of Technology. This will benefit its engineering students

2 Skill Enhancement Centres inaugurated in Maharashtra by Honda: Honda which is the second largest 2-wheeler manufacturer, inaugurated a Skill Development Centre at Excelus Learning Solutions. It has established as many as 17 Skill Enhancement Centres across India, in a short span of 8 months. Honda started centres in Pune and Nashik, which are big cities in the state of Maharashtra. They recently inaugurated these skill enrichment centres in two new cities, Dhule and Palgadh.

Boeing India helps develop aerospace and defence start-ups by partnering with IITs, IISc, KIIT : Boeing announced the launch of a programme for Indian university students, faculty and early stage start-ups to help innovators in converting their ideas into business offerings that can shape the future of aerospace and defence.

Pottery development project by IndianOil under CSR in Tamil Nadu: IndianOil has engaged IIT Madras which is a providing a platform for Science and Technology (S&T) interventions. The Southern Region Pipelines will undertake the CSR project in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu by collaborating with IITM which will help in improving the livelihood of the potter communities in the area.

NLC invites applicants for -170 Technician (Diploma) Apprentices : NLC (Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd, Neyveli) is inviting applications for the positions of Technician (Diploma) Apprentices. Interested and Eligible candidates can apply for the positions. The eligible candidates can apply to the post on or before 04 June 2019.

Online Application Begins for More Than 8000 ADO Vacancies announced by LIC: LIC has announced more than 8,000 vacancies for Apprentice Development Officer Recruitment. The vacancies are open to all with a graduate degree from a recognized university in India. The selection for the post will be through a preliminary exam followed by a main exam.

Andhra Pradesh

ITI students get CNC-turner training at Sri City: A batch of 19 students from Government ITI, Nellore underwent CNC-Turner (Foundation level) training course at the Sri City based Technical Skill Development Institute. The course was covered the basics of CNC machine, Programming, Tooling and CNC Programme cycles and safety. All the trainees were provided free accommodation and food.

Training to youth in skills by NYK’s project Ripple: ‘Project Ripple’ by the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) is engaged in training master trainers of youth in capacity building, skill and personality development. The master trainers in turn would train more trainers and create an endless network of youth networks.

Assam

Skill development training for 72 youth: The skill development & entrepreneurship department organized a ‘briefing-cum-send-off programme’ at the Udyog Sadan for 72 youths who will undergo skill development training in travel and tourism in Guwahati. About 70 percent of the candidates will be provided jobs after the training.

Jammu and Kashmir

Mission Director, JKSDM reviews functioning of training centres under PMKVY: In a review meeting related to functioning of Training Centres held at Srinagar it was found that till date, 4,871 candidates have been enrolled in various training centres empanelled by JKSDM, out of which 4,121 candidates have been trained, 3,001 candidates have received certificates and 468 candidates have been provided job placements.

Skill training on food processing commences in Dimapur: A month long skill training programme commenced on food processing, sponsored by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), organized by CAN Youth at Thahekhu village, Dimapur.
