Vocation in Vacation Contest 2019 – Results

To celebrate 4 years of NSN we launched the Vocation in Vacation Contest for school and college students. The main objective of the contest is to sensitive students about skilled workforce around us and dignity of work. We are overwhelmed with the number of registrations across India and it was a challenge to pick up the best entries in all categories. The criteria for selecting the entries included relevance to the theme, originality and adherence to the word limit/duration of video and on time submission.

We wish to thank organizations that helped us in reaching the students. ASAP Kerala, IL&FS Skills, Lend a Hand India, LabourNet, Empower Pragati, Sri Vishwakarma Skill University Haryana, Medha, TeamLease University and many other friends and well-wishers of NSN who would have shared the contest info through social media.

What the students had to do:

  1. Visit a shopping mall, a restaurant, an automobile workshop, a construction site, a hospital, a beauty parlour, a farm or a factory or a similar work place. Talk to the employees and employer to understand and appreciate their skills!
  2. Meet the skilled people, talk to them and understand their work. Or, try a skill you’ve always wanted to learn.
  3. Write a short story about it (300 words), or make a short video or a painting
