Request for Proposal for Skilling and Employability Initiatives for Youth from Nasscom
Nasscom Foundation is inviting RFPs from non-profit or for-profit organizations to support its Skilling and Employability Initiatives for Youth in Karnataka, Delhi-NCR, and Maharashtra. The goal is to provide foundational IT skills to 1,200 individuals, with 800 receiving domain-specific training in fields like BFSI, BPM, and Data Analysis, and placement opportunities for 480 participants.
Organizations with relevant expertise and presence in these regions are encouraged to submit their RFP response by Monday, July 01, 2024, 5:30 PM IST to rfp@nasscomfoundation.org.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC
- NSDC and NSE India have signed an MoU to raise awareness, provide training, and support NPOs in listing on the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) platform.
- The Apparel Sector Skill Council discussed India’s apparel sector gap analysis with MSDE, highlighting achievements: 10,000+ trainers and 4,600+ assessors certified, and 2M+ candidates trained through STT and 332,000+ via RPL programs.
- Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of MSDE has emphasized the need for enhanced focus on industrial training institutes (ITIs) and endorsed blended learning at both ITIs and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs).
- MSDE in partnership with the Australian Government, convened a crucial roundtable to explore the progress and future potential of the Australia-India Critical Agriculture Skills Pilot Project.

On the occasion of World MSME Day 2024, Team NSN is organizing a webinar on “Fostering MSME- Academia synergy for sustainable, industry-driven skill education” on 28th June 2024. This webinar will focus on how MSMEs can serve as potential partners for skill education, how these partnerships can be built, and their impact on employment.
The MSME sector in India has created more than 19 crore jobs, including 4.27 crore for women and 2.15 crore in the informal sector, significantly contributing to India’s employment landscape. Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government
- The Directorate of Skill Development (MP) to launch new green skills training program in four ITIs to equip workers with the skills needed for a sustainable future.
- The Maharashtra government has formed a 10-member committee of academicians, experts, and representatives to draft a skill education policy for effective convergence of skill development initiatives.
- In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh will conduct a Skill Census to catalog individuals’ skills, promoting workforce productivity through targeted training and increased employability.
- The Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam (NDV) successfully concluded a four-week internship program for students from Andhra University and Gitam University, providing practical maritime experience from May 15 to June 14, 2024.
- The Government of Kerala inaugurated a community skill park and hostel block by the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) at Vizhinjam, aiming to prepare the local youth for employment opportunities at the Vizhinjam international seaport project.
- The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has established 803 vocational labs in government schools across the Union Territory, with an additional 532 labs in progress.
- Germany has introduced an Opportunity Card for skilled professionals from non-EU countries, allowing them to live and search for work in the country for up to a year, as part of a strategy to address labor shortages in engineering, IT, and healthcare.
- The North East Skill Center (NESC) under the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) offers vocational training in hospitality.
- The government of Telangana is upgrading 65 ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres to enhance youth skills and meet industrial demand.
- CBSE has updated skill-based subjects like Web Application, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence from the 2024-25 academic year; stakeholders can find details on the board’s website.
- CBSE and IIT (BHU) Varanasi organised a two-day Exposure Visit Program for 50 principals across India to discuss ways to integrate vocational and skill education into the mainstream school curriculum.
- Canon India enhances its Apprenticeship Training Program in collaboration with Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing to bolster skill development and empower youth.
- A tripartite MoU was signed among LSDM, NIELIT Leh, and UoL to introduce vocational courses and upgrade labs in Ladakh’s government colleges, focusing on NSQF-aligned curricula.
- PepsiCo India launched RevolutioNari, aiming to empower 1 million women through career awareness, upskilling, and creating opportunities in unconventional FMCG roles.
Skilling and Upskilling in Emerging Technologies
- Oracle and the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) have launched a specialized skills development program under Naan Mudhalvan, aiming to train over 200,000 students on Oracle technologies like cloud, data science, blockchain, AI, and ML in 2024.
- The government is set to review the India AI Mission, focusing on viability gap funding, AI skill development, and the implementation of the IndiaAI Datasets Platform.
