Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC
- The Bijnor Kaushal Mahotsav, led by Minister Jayant Chaudhary, successfully concluded with over 13,500 youths registering on the Skill India Digital Hub, resulting in nearly 900 on-the-spot job offers for participants after a month-long job readiness program.
- SHRM India has partnered with NSDC to launch the ‘HR Leadership Council Connect,’ aimed at enhancing India’s skilling ecosystem through insights and best practices from senior HR leaders.
- The government plans to launch a skill voucher system and upgrade 1,000 industrial training institutes, transforming 200 into hub institutions and 800 into spoke facilities to enhance the country’s skill development ecosystem
Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government
- The PM Vishwakarma ‘One Year of Progress’ event at Kohima ITI highlighted the scheme’s focus on empowering artisans through skill development, financial aid, and market access, including benefits like training, Rs 15,000 toolkits, and Rs 3 lakh in collateral-free loans.
- The government of Telangana Reddy announced efforts to partner with global industry leaders to enhance youth skills, during the launch of a skill development programme in collaboration with the BFSI consortium.
- Telangana government has directed officials to establish ITIs and Advanced Technology Centres in 100 constituencies and upgrade existing ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres.
- Tata Steel Foundation, in partnership with the Jharkhand government, launched its third ITI in the state at Chandil under the PPP model, marking its fourth ITI aimed at boosting employability and socio-economic growth in the region.
- A “Composite Skill Laboratory” was inaugurated at J&K Police Public School Miran Sahib Jammu, established under GD Pharmaceutical’s CSR initiative.
- Govt. ITI Kargil celebrated the first anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme with a live telecast of PM Modi’s address and awarded certificates to trainees in tailoring and carpentry.
- NTPC Mining Limited sponsored skill development training in Machine Operator – Plastic Processing and Machine Operator – Injection Moulding for 80 youth, including 25 girls, from project-affected areas in Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with CIPET Ranchi.
- The Punjab Government to introduce four new vocational courses, including beauty & wellness, healthcare, financial services & insurance, and digital marketing, in 40 schools for Class XI and XII from the next academic session.
- The U.P. International Trade Show 2.0, held at the India Expo Center in Greater Noida, featured a special pavilion showcasing the achievements of ITIs and the UP Skill Development Mission, along with live demonstrations of nine vocational skills.
- Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s Student Car Project saw Mechatronics students create a unique pickup truck by merging a Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus.
- CBSE schools in Ranchi are incorporating skill development activities conducted in composite labs and practical classes that are in line with industry needs.
- Medhavi Skills University has partnered with Orane International to launch UGC-recognized B.Voc courses in Cosmetology and Makeup Artistry, aiming to enhance employability and bridge the skills gap in India’s growing beauty and wellness industry.
- GHCL Foundation Trust has significantly impacted 25,719 lives in Tamil Nadu through its various CSR initiatives in FY2023-24, primarily focusing on women-led programs to drive change and enhance the livelihoods of local communities around its textile plants in Madurai and Manapparai.
- Naan Mudhalvan has partnered with Stellantis to equip students in Tamil Nadu with industry-relevant skills in the automotive sector, promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) while preparing youth for the evolving job market.
- The Pharmacy Council of India plans to upgrade the skills of 26,500 registered pharmacists in the southern region under ‘Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0’ through training programs sponsored by the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council.
- The American Society for Non-Destructive Testing and the American Welding Society to boot NDT and welding training programs to enhance railway safety and performance.
- A report by FICCI and Ernst & Young highlights the potential of digital public infrastructures, such as a skilling passport and centralized registry, to enhance India’s skilling ecosystem, emphasizing streamlined skill verification and recognition processes.

- Samsung India’s ‘Samsung Innovation Campus’ awarded certificates to 350 students in future-tech domains at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath presiding over the ceremony.
- India and Germany have agreed to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, urban development, mobility, and agroecology under their “Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development.”
