Government of Karnataka to Host Bengaluru Skill Summit 2026 on Workforce 2030

Bengaluru Skill Summit (BSS) 2026: Preparing talent for the future of work

As industries undergo rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, deep technologies, sustainability, and changing labour market dynamics, the demand for skilled and adaptable talent continues to grow. The Bengaluru Skill Summit 2026 seeks to address these emerging workforce challenges by creating a platform for collaboration and action across the skilling ecosystem.

The summit reflects Karnataka’s commitment to strengthening workforce readiness through integrated skilling systems, industry-aligned training models, and stronger linkages between education, skilling, and employment. The focus is expected to move beyond dialogue towards scalable solutions that can deliver measurable outcomes for learners, employers, and institutions.

Announcing the summit, Dr. Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood and Medical Education, Government of Karnataka, said:

“The Bengaluru Skill Summit 2026 marks an important step in Karnataka’s continued commitment to building a future-ready workforce. As industries evolve and global opportunities expand, our focus remains on creating a unified, high-quality skilling ecosystem that enables our youth to compete and succeed at a global level. We look forward to bringing together leaders from across sectors to shape the next phase of this journey.”

From skilling initiatives to workforce systems

A key aspect of this year’s summit is its emphasis on workforce systems rather than standalone skilling interventions. Discussions will focus on building frameworks that enable large-scale access to quality skilling, institutional strengthening, and deeper collaboration among government, industry, and academia.

Held under the theme “Workforce 2030: Scale, Systems, Synergy,” the summit will focus on three priorities: expanding access to skilling, strengthening institutional frameworks, and enabling deeper collaboration between government, industry, and academia. The event seeks to advance discussions on how workforce ecosystems can become more scalable, structured, and responsive to changing industry needs.

Focus areas for workforce 2030

The summit programme will address a range of themes shaping the future of work and workforce development, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies
  • Industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing
  • Green jobs and sustainability-linked careers
  • Labour market intelligence and skills forecasting
  • Future skills mapping and curriculum innovation
  • Industry-academia collaboration
  • Apprenticeship and work-based learning
  • Digital and AI-enabled skilling systems

  • International training partnerships and talent mobility pathways

The programme will also explore employer-led curriculum design, workforce planning, public-private skilling partnerships, CSR-supported workforce development initiatives, and innovative approaches to vocational training, upskilling, and reskilling. Discussions are expected to provide insights into how workforce systems can become more responsive to employer requirements while creating stronger employment outcomes for learners.

Further conversations will focus on strengthening district-level skilling infrastructure, improving access to quality training, expanding participation among underserved communities, and aligning workforce development initiatives with emerging economic opportunities.

The summit will also provide opportunities to examine workforce preparedness for global employment opportunities, international standards, certification frameworks, and talent mobility pathways, reinforcing Karnataka’s position as a leading talent hub.

Platform for collaboration and innovation

The Bengaluru Skill Summit 2026 will feature leadership sessions, ministerial keynotes, policy dialogues, strategy roundtables, industry forums, employer-led workforce discussions, academia-industry forums, masterclasses, fireside chats, deep-dive knowledge sessions, and case study showcases.

A large-scale Skill Expo will showcase innovative skilling models, workforce technologies, training institutions, government initiatives, and industry-led solutions designed to strengthen workforce development outcomes.

Special focus areas will include:

  • Industry-academia collaboration
  • Skills for emerging technologies
  • Inclusive skilling and workforce participation
  • Public-private partnerships in skill development
  • Skills financing and investment models
  • Global workforce mobility and international collaborations
  • Digital transformation of skilling systems

The summit will also host youth engagement activities including a Youth Zone, Skillathon Grand Finals, career guidance and mentoring sessions, live demonstrations, recruitment engagement opportunities, and interactions with industry experts.

Additional highlights include international delegation participation, workforce mobility discussions, cross-border collaboration sessions, B2B, B2G and G2G networking opportunities, employer-training provider matchmaking sessions, investor engagement platforms, the Kaushalya Karnataka Awards, and an Artisanal Showcase celebrating traditional skills and livelihoods.

Who will be at Bengaluru Skill Summit 2026?

The summit is expected to convene:

  • 4,500+ participants
  • 150+ speakers
  • 100+ exhibitors
  • 40+ media partners
  • National and international delegations

The event is expected to facilitate policy discussions, institutional partnerships, employer engagement, investment conversations, and knowledge sharing aimed at strengthening workforce systems and improving employability outcomes.
