The Goa government is planning to make it mandatory for the promoters of the under-construction Mopa Greenfield airport to give priority to those persons who have been certified under the PMKVY scheme for jobs.

The first skill college in the State at Nagratoli locality in Ranchi was inaugurated by the CM. The college has been established by PreJHA Foundation and State Government to give residential training in different vocational trades to 360 girls.

Vishwakarma varsity and NITTTR sign pact for skill activities

A Memorandum of Understating was signed between Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) and National Institute of Technical Teacher’s Training and Research (NITTTR) to ensure purposeful engagement of faculty, experts and industry partners for various academic activities.

NSTI starts short course on application development with minimal coding to make students employable

The National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) signed an MoU with software company Zoho to provide a 6-day course that includes 12 hours of soft skills training on how to use the Zoho Creator, a low-code programming platform, to build applications. This skill training will provide students with the capacity to create apps for their businesses without facing any programming difficulties.

ICICI Academy to offer free skill training to the youth of UP

ICICI Academy for Skills (ICICI Academy) opened its 26th centre in Gorakhpur, which will offer free skill training to the youth from economically weaker sections of Uttar Pradesh. It will train 320 youths annually.

India’s CSR spend tops Rs 50,000 crore

According to a report on CSR the cumulative spending on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has shot past the Rs 50,000 crore mark in just four years since the legislative mandate was implemented.

Government intends to give skill vouchers to make youth more skilful

The government is planning to issue skill vouchers or skill wallets to incentivise youths for undertaking skilling programme of their choice.

News from the States

Odisha : The Odisha Skill Development Authority signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Community Initiative Trust and Cisco to strengthen the skill ecosystem in the state.

Andhra Pradesh: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd-run Skill Development Institute has launched a new extension centre at Vizianagaram to exclusively conduct overseas job-oriented courses. The centre will train over 300 trainees at any point of time.

Himachal Pradesh: The government is stressing on skill upgradation of the youth of the State in order to provide trained and skilled workforce for ensuring that they become job providers instead of job seekers. Foundation was laid for a new National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in Himachal Pradesh.

Assam: Assam government in collaboration with ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore has set up North East Skill Centre (NESC) in Guwahati to produce skilled manpower.

Nagaland: Nagaland government has started imparting skill training to the youths under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikah Yojana (PMKVY) scheme in the aviation and hospitality sectors
