NSDC collaborates with IBM to offer free digital skills training: NSDC has collaborated with IBM to offer ‘Open P-TECH’, a free digital education platform, focused on emerging technologies and professional development skills. Google launches an app to help people find entry-level jobs: Google has expanded its job app, known as Kormo Jobs, to India to help people look for entry-level roles and further displace Microsoft’s LinkedIn relevance in the world’s second largest internet market. The Kormo Jobs app will also help them learn new skills, and easily create a CV.
RSDL partners TSSC to equip youth with skills to work in telecom sector: RSDL has partnered with TSSC with an aim to equip the youth between the age of 18-35 years with the required skills to enable them to work at various levels in the telecom sector in the post COVID-19 times. TSSC will assure 70% placement for all those who complete the program.
CGSC endorses skill development efforts by Jindal Stainless: Jindal Stainless has received endorsement from Capital Goods Skill Council (CGSC) for creating a vibrant eco-system for quality training and skill development. Jindal Stainless has successfully trained 10,000 fabricators to bridge the market skill gap under its Stainless Academy.
Tech Mahindra launches digital platform to enhance employee competencies: Tech Mahindra has launched an online platform called Upskilling-as-a-Service (UaaS) to accelerate new-age skill development for over 60,000 employees globally to create a ‘fit for future’ workforce. Powered by New Age Delivery (NAD), UaaS will enhance employee competencies across emerging technologies like 5G, cloud, big data and robotic process automation.
Microsoft to skill 900 academicians in India: Microsoft announced a new programme to build quantum computing skills and capabilities in the academic community in India. The programme will train 900 academicians from top institutes in the country. Quantum computers will enable new discoveries in the areas of healthcare, energy, environmental systems, smart materials, and beyond.
GKN Aerospace Bangalore team boosts job prospects of rural students: GKN Aerospace’s (GAI) team in Bangalore, India, has launched a training and development project for aspiring aerospace engineers from rural backgrounds. The ‘Design Engineer Aerospace Propulsion Systems’ course provides essential industry skills and is specifically targeted at students from rural backgrounds as part of GKN Aerospace’s community work in India.
Vedanta-Electrosteel to set up multi-trade training centre: Vedanta-Electrosteel (ESL) is going to set up a multi-trade residential training center and a center of excellence in Jharkhand. The school project will ensure 80 % employability will help train 550 youth in the next three years.
Free online skill development courses for persons with disabilities: DigiVidyapeeth, an education tech start-up is going to offer free of cost online classes for persons with disability. Berhampur ITI files 3 patents for COVID-19 related innovations: ITI, Berhampur has registered three of its innovative products developed to fight against COVID-19. This will give priority rights to the institute over invention. The patents were filed for Robo warrior, UVC Sole Sanitizer, and mobile swab collection kiosk.
Revised admission rules for MBA and PGDM courses: AICTE has revised the admission rules and eligibility criteria for MBA/ PGDM courses offered by others. AICTE issued a formal notification saying that the programmes can be offered by affiliated institutes on the basis of candidate’s performance in the qualifying exam.
IISc collaborates with HAL to create a talent pool to bridge skill gaps: HAL has collaborated with IISc to hone skills of engineers in aerospace and allied fields for ready-to-absorb jobs in the manufacturing sector. About 1,000 young engineers will be trained annually at the centre and the focus will be to develop skills in composite materials, sensors and the Internet of Things.
