betterU and NSDC partner to support Skilling India: betterU Education Corp. announced that National Skills Development Corporation and betterU have entered into a partnership to support the advancing of the government’s skilling initiative in India.

Maruti Suzuki’s second JIM accredited by METI, Japan: Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing has been granted the certificate of accreditation by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). It is going to train 500 youths annually.
Dell Technologies unveiled its first Dell Kaushal Kendra (Skill India lab), a state-of-the-art computer hardware lab for training youth on computer manufacturing and repair services at Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College (SVRCC), Dell Technologies’ NGO partner in Puducherry.
Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), a not-for-profit integrated technical training institute by Tata Power, enrolled its 50,000th trainee on 3rd June 2019. This is a significant milestone in TPSDI’s journey so far since its inception in 2015.
Amway India wins ‘Best International Company In Skill Development’ Award: Amway India has been given the ‘Best International Company in Skill Development’ award at the ‘ASSOCHAM National Summit-cum-Awards on Skilling India – 2019’, held at Ranchi. The award recognized Amway’s recent most initiative to partner with the Retailers Association’s Skill Council of India.
Germany – De RAJ GROUP and O&G SKILLS INDIA enter into a strategic alliance partnership: German-based energy firm De Raj Group announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance agreement with India-based oil and energy staffing firm O&G Skills India. The agreement paves the way for a takeover of O&G Skills India.
‘Amazon Flex’ app launched to hire part time delivery partners: Amazon India has launched Amazon Flex, to help individuals to be their own boss, create their own work schedules and earn ₹120-140 per hour, delivering Prime and non-Prime packages on behalf of Amazon, during their spare time.

CSR and skill development
Rs 125 cr to be spent by Ambuja Cement on CSR this fiscal: Ambuja Cement Foundation will spend Rs 125 crore, including Rs 40 crore in Rajasthan, towards revival of traditional water resources, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge, healthcare support, vocational training and skill development were some of the initiatives which have been undertaken by the foundation.
Rs.16.46 Cr spent by SBI Foundation on CSR programmes: As per the Sustainability Report 2018-19, the total CSR amount spent by SBI Foundation for 2018-19 was Rs 16.46 crore. The CSR activities are spread across healthcare, education, skill development and livelihood creation, environmental protection and sanitation. The CSR programs are implemented by the Bank as well the SBI Foundation.
Castrol India’s CSR programme for mechanics: Castrol India’s CSR programme for mechanics saw over 150 independent two-wheeler mechanics across Hubli and Dharwad participating in the upskilling initiative in Karnataka.

Assam
Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council (DWSSC) organized the ‘Domestic Workers Skill Conclave – Chapter North East’ on Friday in association with Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) at NEDFi House in Guwahati on the occasion of ‘International Domestic Workers Day’ on 14th June 2019.
Bihar
Medical practitioners in Patna to get surgical training on wheels: Doctors and students of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) – Patna will get a weeklong training at the state-of-the-art ‘Institute on Wheels’, a specialised bus with medical facilities. The bus was launched in March 2018 at a government hospital in New Delhi under the Skill India Mission of the Centre.

Skilling of youth, women discussed at Ranchi summit: Major concerns in the skill development industry like gender parity, role of artificial intelligence, and role in direct selling industry were discussed in a national summit-cum-awards called ‘Skilling India–The Way Forward’, at Ranchi. The summit, organised by ASSOCHAM of India saw panellists from various sections of the skill development industry discussing the challenges and scope of the sector.

Job fair to be held in Zunheboto : Emporium skill training institute, which is an empanelled training partner of the Department of Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland will be organising a job fair on June 18 at Zunheboto.

ATDC and EGMM providing employment opportunities to youth in Telangana: Apparel Training and Design Centre, India’s largest quality vocational training provider for the Apparel sector, the training wing of Apparel Export Promotion Council in collaboration with Employment Generation and Marketing Mission (EGMM), Telangana Government are providing employment opportunities for unemployed rural youth in the state.

Singapore minister says they can work closely with India on skill development: Visiting education minister Ong Ye Kung said, Singapore is keen to cooperate with India in the area of skills development, adding that the newly constituted cabinet committee on employment and skill development will invigorate India’s efforts at imparting essential employability skills to the people.
