Availability of skilled workforce is a basic requisite for a progressive economy and Government of India is striving to realize its goal to train over 40 crore (400 million) people in India in different skills by 2022.

Why skill the youth?

Just as literacy would have a direct impact on the economy of a nation, so does skilling – for it can be translated into employable knowledge yielding jobs across a diverse range of industries. Few top advantages that summarize the impact of having skilled workforce:

  • Increased employment opportunities for the youth
  • Better skilled labour for various organizations
  • Enhancement of the national economy

Nonetheless, the gap between knowledge/skills and jobs, and lack of availability of skilled human resources calls for many interventions in the social sector. Empowering youth with appropriate training and helping them get a job or supporting them to become entrepreneurs is one of the ways to address the key issue of poverty alleviation and social upliftment. This is indeed the need of the hour!

UnLtd IndiaThere are many more miles to go in addressing the pressing social problems of the country with the help of right innovative ideas and committed individuals. In order to help the skilling sector fulfil its goals, we need more social entrepreneurs to come forward and address the gaps in the sector with creative solutions.

Are you passionate about scaling your organization? Have you been training youth in job-oriented skills? Or supporting career counselling, skilling and vocational education at the high school level?

Are you a social entrepreneur or a change maker fused with energy and new ideas striving towards improving the skills and employability sector in India, and looking for guidance, mentoring and funding? Do you . . .

  • Educate (develop core employability skills through training, reskilling)
  • Encourage (career guidance, link with industries, mentors etc)
  • Enable (Facilitate placements, jobs and livelihood)

Or, do you have any other idea that can help the skilling industry close the skill gap and enhance employment outcomes?

“Skill development in India urgently needs new ideas and fresh entrepreneurial energy. Significant public and private investments in the skill development sector have started yielding results, however, there is lot of work that still needs to be done to deliver on the promise of skill training to transform the economic lives of low-income youth. With the support of our partners, we plan to leverage our experience in early-stage incubation, to specifically support social enterprises and non-profits in the skills sector.” Pooja Warier, Co-founder and CEOPooja Warier, UnLtd India

If you have products and services focused on skills and employability, then UnLtd India, along with J.P, Morgan and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) invites you to apply to a uniquely customised incubation program that will help you develop your organisation and its impact. What UnLtd India is looking for:
