NSDC collaborates with TCS iON to enable virtual training for the skilling ecosystem: NSDC has collaborated with TCS iON with the vision to provide uninterrupted online learning. This coalition will provide NSDC’s training partners access to the TCS iON Digital Glass Room, enabling them to move classroom vocational skills training to online mode for millions of students across the country. Skill mapping to help workers get work opportunities closer to homes: The government of India has decided for the skill mapping of the migrant workers who have returned to their hometowns. This skill mapping aims to help the workers get work opportunities closer to their homes. 

Short-term job opportunities for migrants in 116 ‘Atma Nirbhar districts’: The Government of India is going to create short-term job opportunities in 116 districts which are choosen to be a part of Atma Nirbhar districts. Each of the districts chosen has over 25,000 migrant workers, who have returned after the 25 March lockdown imposed to contain the Covid-19 outbreak.

Government offers free online courses for corporate skills: The government of India is offering free online courses for corporate skills. The objective of these courses is to ensure that the learners gain the necessary skill sets demanded by industry and get a head start in their career. 

MSDE to release SOPs for opening and operating Skill Centres: MSDE is going to launch SOPs for opening and operating Skill Centres and will launch Skill Management Information System while working on reverse migrants. Read more…

Train migrant workers via mobile centres, employ them locally: In the post-pandemic scenario, companies might locate their factories in areas where workers are not too far from their villages. As many workers will not return to urban areas, they should be trained through mobile training centres and employed locally.

Andhra Pradesh

Skill Development Corporation to impart online training: APSSDC has reoriented its skill training programmes to online mode.It had designed a series of online training programmes for students, youth and faculty members of the educational institutions across the State. So far, 4,642 students and 3,309 faculty members have been trained on technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), android application development, data science etc.

Assam

Assam’s plan to absorb returning workers: To absorb thousands of returnee migrant workers, the Government of Assam has taken up a multi-pronged strategy, including building a database of returning workers. Assam has also launched an initiative SAMPARKA to systematically capture data of returning migrant workers.

CII to manage the government’s Model Career Centre: CII-Goa is going to manage the upcoming Model Career Centre (MCC) by the government. The Career Centre will be mentored by an industry task force. MCC will aim to connect jobseekers and industry while also assisting job aspirants in selecting jobs based on their individual skills. 

Kerala

NTTF collaborates with Jain University to make a difference in vocational education: NTTF has collaborated with Jain University, Kerala with an aim to bring changes in vocational education in the state. This partnership marks a significant milestone for NTTF. Jain University is planning to allign their B.Tech programmes with NTTF.

Maharashtra

Builders Association of India plans to train and employ local workers: With the help of the Government of Maharashtra, the Builders Association of India is planning to set up training centers to impart skill development in order to train unemployed youth from villages near Mumbai.

Odisha

Kemppi signs MoU with DTET Odisha to set up Advanced Welding Lab at ITI Cuttack: 

  • Kemppi and DTET Odisha signed an MOU to establish an advanced welding lab in ITI CuttackWeekly news bytes . Mr. Reghu G, IAS, Secretary DTET, Odisha signed the MoU with Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, Managing Director, Kemppi South East Asia and India Kemppi.
  • The entire process was held through video conferencing.
  • As per the MoU, Kemppi will be developing an advanced welding lab with Robotic welding.
  • To monitor the training program Kemppi INDIA will also provide a web-based MIS tool. For the students this will turn out to be a great experience and exposure to the latest technologies relevant to the industries.
  • In addition to the welding lab, student exchange programs with Kemppi supported institutes across the world and International Certification in welding skills to the students of ITI, Cuttack also comes under the purview of the MoU.

Punjab

ITI in Ludhiana to organize  virtual job fair: The Government in Ludhiana had decided to organize a virtual job fair for pass out and final-year students. Virtual interviews will be conducted next week through video-conferencing and currently, candidates have been asked to register online. Know more…

NFL collaborates with ITI Nangal for training of youth in 12 trades for employment: NFL has signed an MoU with ITI NAngal to train youth in 12 trades. The students will be skilled under the Dual System of Training Scheme under which they will learn theoretical skills in the institute and on-the-job training in NFL Nangal plant.

Rajasthan

Rajasthan gets a centralized manpower repository: The government of Rajasthan has developed a centralized system collecting data from all existing employment and skill databases along with that of returning migrants. The system will ensure jobs and help to cold start the industries in the state.

Rajasthan to start re-skilling migrant labourers: Nearly 116 districts in Rajasthan are going to start re-skilling the migrant workers. The Skill Development ministry is trying to make district-specific plans for migrant labourers, a key aspect of which involves identifying their current skills and re-skilling them according to the needs of the job market.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, honourable Vice-Chancellor, YCMOU, and coordinated by Dr. Amol Shirfule, Director i/c, Yash Center for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages and Dr. Nagarjun Wadekar, Director, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, YCMOU.As a part of the comprehensive Graduate Employability Project, the workshop brought together academic leaders representing different schools of specialization, course coordinators, and faculty members from YCMOU to strengthen curriculum design with a focus on employability skills and industry relevance.The workshop emphasised the transition from traditional content-driven teaching to outcome-based education using the Results-Based Management (RBM) Framework.
