Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET
- NEP to integrate vocational training from Class 6, reshaping skilling in India and fostering rapid growth, stated by Shri. Atul Kumar Tiwari from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government
- NEHU, in collaboration with Vidhya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, launched a two-day workshop at Shillong on aligning curriculum with NEP 2020, emphasizing collaborative learning and innovative pedagogies.
- Rajasthan’s education department has introduced a new course in government schools allowing students from classes 9-12 to explore four professions or jobs of their choice during the first three months of the academic session.
- IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with government bodies and Tata Electronics, held the Semiconductor Horizons Workshop to encourage innovation and research collaboration in Semiconductor Technology in Assam and beyond.
- IIT Guwahati, IIT Ropar has signed an MoU with ESSCI to boost semiconductor skill development innovation and start-ups.
- AISECT held the fourth Samarth Bharath conclave in Bhopal on April 22, focusing on skill development, financial inclusion, and social entrepreneurship.
- Bird Academy has partnered with the Odisha Government to pioneer skill development and technical education for youth under the Nutana Unnata Abhilasha (NUA) scheme.
- NSE Academy Limited (NAL) has partnered with Oxford University Press (OUP) to offer joint certificate courses on professional skills via the NSE Knowledge Hub platform, featuring courses like Design Thinking, Negotiation, and Storytelling.
- The Sub Sector Skill Council for Ayush, part of HSSC, is training 10,289 candidates across eight states, led by Punjab, in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy.
Skilling and Upskilling in Emerging Technologies
- The state board-affiliated schools in Assam have introduced artificial intelligence and robotics as a vocational subject in class 9 from this academic session and in class 10 from 2025-2026.
