Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC
- The MSDE will soon release the first-ever annual rankings of nearly 15,000 ITIs nationwide, similar to the NIRF, coinciding with a new scheme to skill 2 million youth and upgrade 1,000 ITIs.
- MSDE, in collaboration with Microsoft, launched the AI-focused SkillSaksham Program at NSTI—Women in Noida, aiming to enhance digital and AI skills in 200 ITIs starting this academic session.
- NSDC and World Education Services have partnered to streamline the verification of digital academic records from Indian institutions, enhancing trust and transparency in academic qualifications.
- NSDC and Emversity have partnered to launch industry-aligned certificate courses and degrees for Allied Healthcare Professionals, co-created with experts to meet global job market demands.
- MSDE chaired a consultation with state officials on the new scheme for upgrading 1,000 ITIs under a hub-and-spoke model, gathering key insights for implementation.
Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government
- CII has proposed a collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government to conduct region-specific studies and provide skill training to bolster the state’s industrial ecosystem.
- Hindustan Zinc’s CSR program, Zinc Kaushal Kendra, has secured jobs for over 5,950 rural youth and provided skill training to over 7,100 since 2019, celebrating International Youth Day by empowering youth in its operational areas.
- The Chhattisgarh government to upgrade 160 ITIs to model status with a Rs 484.22 crore budget, starting with Sakri ITI in Baloda Bazar district under the SIDBI scheme.
- This year, over 800 girls have enrolled at ITI Berhampur, comprising around 37% of total admissions—the highest percentage in the institute’s 67-year history.
- The Maharashtra government will offer free vocational higher education for women under NEP 2020 to boost female enrollment in vocational programs and promote equal educational opportunities.
- TeamLease Degree Apprenticeship aims to skill 2 million apprentices by 2028 through programs like white-collar apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, bridging academic learning with practical skills under NEP 2020.
