NEP 2020 – The Game Changer for Indo-German Collaboration: A Webinar Series

 iMOVE in collaboration with National Skills Network (NSN), is organizing a webinar series titled ‘NEP 2020 – The Game Changer for Indo-German Collaboration.’

This series aims to unite institutions and organizations from the TVET and skill education ecosystems in India and Germany to catalyze new collaboration ideas and unlock the potential of NEP 2020 for innovative, mutually rewarding partnerships between the two countries.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC

  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Swiggy to launch the ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative, offering skilling, employment, and training opportunities to 2.4 lakh delivery and restaurant staff via the Skill India Digital Hub.
  • National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), under DGT and MSDE, launched YouTube channels offering vocational training videos in nine languages for India’s ITI learners.
  • Team India has secured 4 prestigious Bronze medals and 12 Medallions of Excellence across a variety of skill sets, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication at WorldSkills 2024. Read more…

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  •  The Indian Army has inaugurated a Skill Development Centre in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi Yomi district to boost women’s employment and promote local craftsmanship in remote areas.
  • AISECT has partnered with Samagra Shiksha to launch the “School Shine” project in Nagaland, aiming to equip students with practical skills and promote entrepreneurship in line with NSQF and NEP 2020.
  • The Karnataka government launched the ‘Nipuna Karnataka’ initiative to equip the state’s youth with industry-relevant skills, aiming to boost IT sector leadership and global competitiveness.
  • SDI Guwahati, in partnership with Learnet Skills and the Skill Council for Green Jobs, launched the Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra) Course, with 58 trainees from the first batch securing placements in top companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Sobha Developer, and L&T Hazira Offshore Plant.
  • The BRICS Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting, adopted a declaration emphasizing life-long learning, vocational guidance, platform worker welfare, and enhanced social support systems.
  • SEMI launched its Workforce Development Programme in India at SEMICON India 2024, aiming to tackle the semiconductor talent shortage by partnering with educational institutions for skill development.
  • Nagpur University has introduced an Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme (AEDP) offering BBA students a new specialisation in retail operation management.
  • Israel seeks to hire 15,000 Indian workers, including 10,000 for construction and 5,000 caregivers, to address skill gaps in infrastructure and healthcare.
  •  Isuzu Motors India has launched a new Skill Development and Experience Centre in Noida to provide comprehensive training for technicians, service managers, and advisers, enhancing customer service operations for its dealer partners.
  • The Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) centre of excellence was inaugurated at SASTRA Deemed University to upskill engineering graduates with contemporary and evolving technologies, enhancing employability.
  • EDII and Accenture launched a 26-day Micro Skillpreneurship Development Program in Kamrup district to train rural women in handloom skills, including business management and financial literacy, with support for starting their own enterprises.
  • NIIT Foundation, in partnership with HDFC ERGO, launched two new training programs to boost economic empowerment and financial literacy for individuals in Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
