Nasscom Foundation RFP: Seeking Partners to Empower 1,000 Women Artisans in Varanasi

Nasscom Foundation invites qualified non-profit or for-profit organizations in Varanasi to collaborate on a project aimed at enhancing digital and financial skills for 1,000 women artisans. Partners will support mobilization, training, and access to finance, equipping artisans to use digital tools and improve livelihoods. Updates on CSR-skill development

  • In FY 2024, SBI invested Rs. 502.32 crore in CSR, supporting 173 projects across 80 aspirational districts to drive inclusive growth.
  • Herbalife has signed an MoU with IIT Madras to offer 1,000 scholarships for students in the IITM BS Degree in Data Science, supporting the institute’s vision of accessible education for all.
  • HCLTech, in partnership with Singapore’s EDB, announced its new AI/Cloud Native Lab in Singapore, set to open in 2025 as a regional innovation hub.
  • Hindustan Zinc Limited has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government, committing Rs 36 crores over five years to enhance education quality in 72 government schools through its Shiksha Sambal program.
  • IMI New Delhi has launched its Sustainability and Social Impact Program to develop socially responsible leaders through engagement with underserved communities and societal initiatives.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC

  • IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with the SWAYAM Plus initiative of the Ministry of Education to launch a short-term training program in the semiconductor industry for students and graduates.
  • The Centre’s PM Vishwakarma Yojana has received 2.58 crore applications, with 23.75 lakh artisans registered for benefits after verification, NSDC reports.
  • CBSE-affiliated schools will launch the Sankalp program, in partnership with MSDE, to introduce new skill development courses for students in classes 6 to 8, focusing on industry-relevant skills.
  • MSDE has urged all states and UTs to encourage ITI graduates to participate in the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme.
  • MSDE has reconstituted the Central Apprenticeship Council for three years, with Jayant Chaudhary as chair and Vikramjit Singh Sahney as vice-chair.
  • NSDC and TCS iON have signed an MoU to launch National Proficiency Tests, offering industry-recognized certifications to enhance skills and employability across India.

  • The Telangana government plans to acquire 420 acres and build a 20-km six-lane road to enhance connectivity to Young India Skill University.
  • Nagaland’s SLEC has confirmed NEP 2020 implementation in all government and private schools statewide from the next academic year.
  • The Uttar Pradesh government is making significant efforts to enhance tourism sector and boost employment opportunities for 45,000 families during Maha Kumbh event
  • Sikkim inaugurated two new colleges for pharmacy and nursing under Medhavi Skills University, aiming to boost skill-based education and healthcare employability for local youth.
  • To access a skilled talent pool and close workforce gaps, industrial associations are considering partnerships with ITIs to establish labs and train students in industry-relevant trades.
  • The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association has requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to establish a skill development university to help MSMEs access a skilled workforce.
  • The government of Telangana announced that the second phase of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools project will launch on November 14 with a major event in Hyderabad.
  • The J&K Department of Skill Development held a convocation at ITI Rajouri, honoring top-performing students of the 2023-24 Craftsman Training Scheme with medals and certificates.
  • The government of Telangana is transforming outdated ITIs into Advanced Technical Centres, with new courses introduced at Peddapalli’s Government ITI to enhance job opportunities for skilled students.
  • The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council has partnered with TATA Strive and IHCL to establish a Hospitality Skill Development Centre of Excellence for youth from Tripura and neighboring northeastern states.
