Sri Sri Rural Development Programme (SSRDP) Trust has been committed to empowering unemployed youth through vocational training. In collaboration with NSDC, SSRDP has been conducting training programs in tier 2 and 3 cities and many rural areas of India. On 21st January 2018, SSRDP organized “Kaushal Vikas Se Rashtra Vikas” event at Thyagaraj Stadium, INA Colony in Delhi to felicitate Yoga instructors and distribute certificate to other successful trainees.
Highlights of the event
Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankarji felicitated 500 Yoga instructors with RPL certificates under PMKVY scheme from 17 different locations across India
200 participants of Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) were conferred with the certificates and also given micro-finance allotment letters
120 master trainers for Waste Picker Job role under Sector Skill Council for Green Jobs were conferred with the certificates ,hailing from 15 different locations across India
The Art of Living will sponsor 30,000 rural youths in employability skills in collaboration with AICTE
Initiatives launched with NSDC in 20 jails , 21 special skill centres and certifications of youths in 7 sectors like agriculture, domestic workers, tourism & hospitals, green jobs, textiles and handlooms and retails
The event was graced by Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankarji who felicitated 500 Yoga instructors with the certificates in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of Yoga under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a flagship scheme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The Yoga Instructors hailed from 17 different locations of 5 states of India. 50 candidates from the state of Jammu & Kashmir also participated and shared their experience.
Mr. Mahesh Girriji – Member of Parliament East Delhi, Praveen Saxena -CEO at Green Job Sector Skill Council, Mr. Gaurav Kapoor – Senior Head – Media & CSR at NSDC, Ms. Prathiba & Ms. Puja from BWSSC, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Trustee at SSRDP, Dr. R.S. Rathore, Director at AICTE, Mr. Devjyoti Mohanty – Director at YLTP and Mr. Digvijay Kharote – Director at SSRDP were also present at the event.
SSRDP has skilled more than 90,000 youths in the year 2017. Taking cognisance of the interest of entrepreneurship among the youth, an Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) has been started by SSRDP and today 200 participants of EDP were conferred the certificates with linkages to Sri Sri Tattwa (as the retailer) and SSHDP (for microfinance). Besides, SSRDP has planned to train 1.5 lakh Rural Youth Leadership Training Program (YLTP) teachers in rural areas.
On this auspicious occasion, Sri Sri Ravishankarji said, “We have been undertaking youth empowerment programme in rural areas for its development and helping youth in becoming self-reliant. We are happy to take PM’s Narendra Modi ji’s vision further.”
A letter of collaboration was handed over to AICTE for training 30,000 final year students of AICTE approved colleges, belonging to underprivileged economical section. The Art of Living signed to launch a competition in association with AICTE in all colleges across India for identifying sustainable innovative social enterprises. AOL will incubate (support and finance) 50 top ideas to promote start up India.
Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC) that has been associated with The Art of Living for more than a year together extended their support in making the curriculum for the defined job roles of Yoga trainers and having a target of assessing and certifying of one lakh Yoga trainers under RPL programme. Moreover, NSDC and SSRDP are undertaking the skill training in the 20 jails across the country.
Manish Kumar, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, National Skill Development Corporation said, “India is proud of its ancient cultural heritage – Yoga. The learnings of Yoga need to be passed on to future generations. Considering the increasing demand for yoga practitioners, NSDC has collaborated with Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) to assess and certify trained yoga instructors.”
120 waste picker trainers under Sector Skill Council for Green Jobs (SSCGJ) of comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) programme will be joining the project to train 10,000 waste pickers with the help of municipalities under RPL programme across India and will join SSRDP to promote waste management and bio-farming.
During the event, National Skill Development Corporation, Government representatives and Corporate engaged and discussed with 5000 youths from Delhi and nearby cities on skill and entrepreneurship.
