News from the states
Delhi: 1. IISDSE 2016 – Several European stakeholders shared views on how to make Indian youth more employable and increase their competence, in the EU-India Skill Development Summit. 2.Japanese carmaker Toyota’s Indian subsidiary, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been selected for the ‘Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Programme’ by the government of Japan to further boost ‘Skill India’ initiative
Delhi: 3. Australia’s Technical and Further Education (TAFE) is conducting a program to help India upskill its vocational training leaders to build leadership and organisational capacity of vocational training institutions. 4.The Ministry of Civil Aviation hired IMaCS to undertake a comprehensive skill gap analysis of the Civil Aviation Sector and to formulate a future roadmap for skill development in the sector.
Delhi: 5. Japanese air-conditioner maker Daikin Industries is set to launch a training program in August 2017 in Rajasthan. The “Japanese-style manufacturing school” will teach young workers the necessary skills to assemble, install and maintain air conditioner 6. In the first CSR Conclave from SIAM, the auto industry decided to focus on skill development as one of the key areas.
Gujarat: Maruti to set up an Industrial Training Institute in Mehsana called as “Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing” (JIM), the institute would go on stream in August 2017.
Jammu and Kashmir: 1. The union ministry of skill development has urged the private security sector to provide security guards various skills required to compete in the global markets. 2.Minister for technical education called for special skill mapping of Jammu and Kashmir by National Skill Development Agency (NSDA).
Jharkhand: Industry should come forward to participate in ITI adoption and take advantage of the Apprenticeship schemes –this was the key message from the recently concluded CII Event in Jharkhand
Karnataka: LabourNet, an NSDC partner launches Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme for tailors working in the apparel sector in collaboration with Raymond.
Kerala: Centre is planning an institute of excellence on the lines of CIPET and FDDI for rubber, tyre sector.
Maharashtra: Tata Power’s Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) sees 83% placement within 6 months : 68 TPSDI trainees have bagged offers from Welspun Indian Limited (Textiles), in a recruitment drive conducted at Maithon.
Nagaland: The Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) organized its first Kaushal Mela under PMKVY
Odisha: “Make in Odisha” Conclave launches new uniform for “Skilled-in-Odisha” for skill training, ITI and polytechnic through a ramp walk by the trainees of ‘Skilled-in-Odisha”
Punjab: Inauguration of multi-skill development centers in front of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) campus. Punjab will get 1000 skill development centers
Rajasthan: ICFE Skills Solutions, an arm of Rise India, has signed a MoU with Rajasthan Skills & Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC) for implementing DDU-GKY projects in Rajasthan.
Tamil Nadu: The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Career Development, (IECD), Bharathidasan University, has enrolled 82,812 candidates to impart computer skill programmes for the current academic year.
Telangana: Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) signed an MoU with Salesforce to provide valuable Salesforce skills to students. TASK will certify 2,000 students in the next 2 years
Tripura: Pinnacle Skills inaugurated its centre in Dharmanagar, Tripura. It will offer courses in Apparel and Beauty sectors
Uttar Pradesh: NSDC’s job fair begins at Colvin Taluqdars College.The programme is organised by the NSDC in collaboration with MSDE for youth employment in UP.
News from the industry sectors
TSSC: 1.A centre for skill development in the Internet of Things (IoT) has been set up by the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) in collaboration with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) 2. TSSC signed an MoU with The Art of Living Digital India Movement to skill Indian youth, create employment opportunities, encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and support the “Skill India” initiative

Join on WhatsAppHSSC: 1.Fiinovation, RPG Foundation and KEC International Limited in partnership with Maharaj Vinayak Society launched an Integrated Skill Development Programme in Healthcare Sector in Rajasthan. 2. For skill development of human resources in pharmacy, the Union Health Ministry has called upon all the stakeholders including pharmacists’ associations, AIOCD, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and HSSC to jointly work on a module to develop skills of unqualified people having more than 5 years of experience in dispensing drugs under a pharmacist.
News from the government
- The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Monday signed an MoU to scale up skill development in hydrocarbon sector
- The Cabinet on Wednesday gave ex post-facto approval to a pact between India and France for cooperation in skill development, vocational education and training.
- Indian government launches initiative to encourage young entrepreneurs Flagship scheme to focus on entrepreneurship, education and training by launching the Pradhan Mantri YUVA Yojana. The scheme was launched to mark the 2nd Foundation Day of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
- Union Textiles Ministry has reviewed implementation of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) and suggested measures to strengthen its monitoring mechanism and increase its outreach for imparting training to individuals in the textile sector. As of now, 21,577 trainees are being trained under ISDS in the textile sector through 556 centres across India.
