Technical training gives students the foundation for a career. But employability also depends on how well they communicate, collaborate, solve problems, adapt to change and apply what they learn. At NSTI-W Hyderabad, CTS students get opportunities to develop these capabilities alongside their technical training.
Learning Through Practical Training
Team NSN recently visited NSTI Women, Hyderabad, to interact with CTS students and faculty and understand their learning experiences across different trades.
The visit offered a glimpse into the practical nature of training at the institute. Students across areas such as Cosmetology, Architectural Draughtsman, Fashion Design Technology and AI & IoT were engaged in hands-on learning and working on projects connected to their respective trades.
Moving through the practical classrooms and speaking with students and faculty provided an opportunity to understand not only what students are learning, but also how they are applying their technical knowledge through training and projects.
Bringing Employability Skills into Learning
The interaction with CTS students also focused on the skills that complement technical knowledge in the workplace.
Through a series of activities and workplace scenarios, students were encouraged to think about creativity, problem-solving, adaptability, decision-making, teamwork, self-awareness and resilience. The activities gave them opportunities to share ideas, work together and respond to situations that they may encounter during their careers.
The interaction also encouraged students to think about the skills they will need alongside their technical knowledge. Discussions touched on adapting to changing workplaces, working with others, solving problems and continuing to learn as technology and job roles evolve.
Students also had an opportunity to reflect on their own strengths, areas for improvement and career aspirations. These conversations helped connect employability skills with the experiences and situations they may encounter as they move from training into the workplace.

Preparing for a Changing Workplace
The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the students added to the experience. They approached the activities with different ideas and perspectives, demonstrating that learning does not always have to happen through conventional classroom discussions.
The visit also highlighted the importance of connecting technical training with the broader skills required in the workplace. As students prepare to enter different industries, their ability to communicate, collaborate, adapt and continue learning can complement the technical expertise they gain through their CTS courses.
