Restart of ITIs after the lockdown: ITIs are opening in many states in India and MSDE DGT has given some guidelines to re-open these ITIs. In this video, we will talk about the guidelines, various collaborations, and digital initiatives from the government.

Andhra Pradesh

APSRTC receives Kaushalacharya award for efforts in skill development: APSRTC has received the Kaushalacharya award for its efforts in skill development. It has recruited 5,397 apprentices who were diploma- holders from the Industrial Training Institute.

Assam

ADBU holds its ninth convocation on a Virtual Platform: Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) held its ninth convocation on a virtual platform. Degrees were conferred on 908 students.

Telangana

Amazon India expands its fulfilment infrastructure with two new FCs: Amazon India has expanded its fulfilment infrastructure in Telangana with two new fulfilment centres (FC) in Hyderabad ahead of the festive season. With this infrastructure, Amazon now offers storage capacity of more than 4.5 million cubic feet spread across four fulfilment centres to its more than 23,000 sellers in Telangana.

Skill development news from the government and industry

‘Gift a Career’ initiative by Tech Mahindra: Tech Mahindra Ltd. has started an initiative called ‘Gift A Career’ to upskill the youth across India. The training will be offered through Tech Mahindra Foundation’s SMART centres and academies across 11 locations in the country.

NSDC collaborates with Khan Academy India: NSDC has collaborated with Khan Academy India to offer free foundational mathematics courses for Indian youth. As part of the collaboration, Khan Academy has curated 2100 minutes of online courses in English and conversational Hindi language, which will be available to learners through NSDC’s eSkill India portal. Skill development newsbytesAI centre of excellence by IBM: IBM is going to set up an artificial intelligence (AI) centre of excellence with the government e-marketplace to improve usability and transparency and help in cost-saving in public procurement. 

Three lakh migrant workers from 116 districts to be skilled under GKRA: Three lakh migrant workers from 116 districts in states including Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Bengal, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are going to be skilled under the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan (GKRA). They will be provided with short-term training and recognition of prior learning. Read more…

Post-pandemic India faces a massive skills crisis: Skilling firms in post-pandemic India are going through a critical time. Students training for short-term and even long-term vocations are stranded and skilling institutes are facing an existential crisis. The 15,000-odd vocational centres need some sort of a rescue package. Else thousands of budding blue-collar professionals would be left unemployed. 

Magic Bus India Foundation collaborates with BMW India Foundation: Magic Bus India Foundation has partnered with BMW India Foundation for a skill development program that provides livelihood opportunities to youth. The program has positively impacted the lives of over 7,000 youth since its inception.

MoRD collaborates with Gap Inc. to create opportunities for rural youth: The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has partnered with Gap Inc. to create opportunities for rural youth over the next three years by leveraging Gap Inc’s P.A.C.E program. 

NASSCOM FutureSkills partners with DeakinCo. to equip IT workforce with essential future skills: NASSCOM FutureSkills has partnered with DeakinCo. to equip the workforce of the IT-BPM industry with essential future skills. It aims to offer short courses to skill, re-skill and up-skill both individuals and the organisations through the FutureSkills platform of NASSCOM.

ESSCI partners Siemens Ltd. to develop a pool of technical manpower as per Industry 4.0: ESSCI has partnered with Siemens Limited to establish cooperation between both the organizations and to execute the projects around skilling ecosystem, future skills, Training of Trainers (ToT), and developing new technical manpower for the Industry.

Online course in ‘Business Accounting Process’ by IIT Madras: IIT Madras Digital Skills Academy has launched a new course on ‘Business Accounting Process’ which will be available completely online. The objective is to upskill/reskill students and professionals looking for a career in Finance and Accounting.
