Important updates from the ITIs are the highlight of this week’s skill development news bytes. Other than ITIs we also have updates from industry, government and other stakeholders in the skilling and TVET space which can help you generate leads for developing your business in this sector. Skill development news from ITIs

NFL Vijaipur partners ITI Raghogarh (MP )for skilling of youth: National Fertilizers Limited has tied up with ITI Raghogarh to train youth in various trades and to enhance the chances of their employability in heavy and process industry.  The students will be skilled under the Dual System of Training Scheme under which they will learn theoretical skills in the institute and 6 months on-the-job training in NFL Vijaipur plant.

Rs 10 crores to be invested on model ITI institutes: The government of India is going to spend Rs 10 crore on model ITI institutes, focusing on the skill development of youth. Nearly 15,000 Model ITIs are to be developed across the nation under this initiative by the central government.

ITIs in Karnataka to be upgraded through an investment of Rs 4.6k crore: The government of Karnataka, in partnership with Tata Technologies Ltd will invest Rs 4,636.50 crore to upgrade 150 ITIs in the state. Rs 30 crore will be invested in each of the 150 ITIs which will be equipped to provide “Industry 4.0” standard training.

Farm ITIs to be established in Jammu: A meeting regarding the establishment of farm ITIs at ITI Khuri Batpora, Kulgam and R S Pura Jammu was held. There will be various short term and long term courses related to agriculture which will start in the month of November 2020

1500 ITI students trained by Honda’s Road Safety E-Gurukul: Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul has trained over 1500 ITI students and has created awareness regarding road safety in the last three months. The awareness has been created in 15 ITIs across 14 cities in Odisha.

FLO, the women’s wing of FICCI partners NSDC: FLO, the women’s wing of FICCI has partnered with NSDC to empower women through skill training to enhance their employability and promote entrepreneurship. Read more…

7.7 lakh Indians acquire digital skills: Microsoft has trained nearly 774,000 learners in India as a part of its global skills initiative. Within India, the top learning paths are software developers, data analysts and digital marketing specialists.

India and Australia strengthen cooperation in skill development: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and High Commission of Australia conduct a virtual meeting to strengthen cooperation in skill development and Vocational Education and Training (VET). Read more…

E-marketplace by Tribes India: Tribes India has launched an e-marketplace, India’s largest handicraft and organic products marketplace to transform lives and livelihoods. This initiative will help them market their products directly.

News BytesEntrepreneurship development scheme by the government: Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP) by the government has seen an increase of more than 350 percent in the number of trainees. 7,629 programmes have been organized by the government under ESDP till now. 

BMW group formed BMW India Foundation: BMW India Foundation has been formed to plan, implement and oversee all corporate citizenship projects of BMW India Pvt. Ltd., BMW India Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. and BMW India Leasing Pvt. Ltd. The foundation will generate greater awareness and promote the causes through various partnerships and associations. 

ATDC collaborates with 77 apparel manufacturing units: ATDC has tied up with 77 apparel manufacturing units in Tamil Nadu for a world bank funded skilling project known as STRIVE. STRIVE aims at improving the productivity at MSMEs in various industrial clusters.

Haryana

B.Voc in Public Services courses by Shree Vishwakarma Skill University: Shree Vishwakarma Skill University has partnered with ALS to launch B.Voc degree programs in Public Service courses. It will prepare the students for Union public services commission and state public services, commission exams, administrative & other government jobs in its 3-year program termed as B.voc.

Jharkhand

Self-empowerment opportunities for rural women through ASHA scheme: Jharkhand livelihood Promotion hunar abhiyan (ASHA Scheme) 2020 is an innovative initiative by the government which will ensure the skill development of rural women to make them self-resilient. Almost 17 lakh rural women will get the training under this campaign.

Madhya Pradesh

First batch of Strive scheme starts their apprenticeship: The first batch of Strive scheme has started their apprenticeship. AIMP has been selected as the executing agency of the scheme, where skill development courses in 6 disciplines will be conducted.

Nagaland

Skill development training for returnee migrant workers: The government of Nagaland is going to provide skill development training to returnee migrant workers. The government with the support from the North East Council will train around 100 returnees under the Livelihood Generation Programme.

Foundation stones laid for 68 development projects: The foundation stones for 68 development projects worth Rs 1331.96 crore were laid in Rajasthan. These projects are related to the Smart City Mission, the Amrut Yojana, the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project and the urban development departments under the Jaipur, Ajmer and Udaipur divisions.

Sikkim

Buddhist University to be set up in Sikkim: A Buddhist University is going to be established in Sikkim. The university will be modeled on the guidelines by the National Education Policy in India and is to help the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
