ASSOCHAM webinar focuses on self-reliance through demand-driven skill development: The recently held webinar on skill development by ASSOCHAM focused on self-reliance through demand-driven skill development to realise the vision for Atmnirbhar Bharat. MEA to create an online database of workers to map their skills: The ministry of external affairs (MEA) has collaborated with NSDC to create an online database of Indian workers returning from abroad to map their skills. As a contribution to the mission, State governments including Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are also creating their own database of returning migrants.

The collaboration will help students to concurrently pursue vocational education offered by Jain university while enrolling for a three-year diploma at NTTF.

Amazon India to hire 20,000 temporary staff in customer service to serve global customers: Amazon India is going to offer 20,000temporary employment opportunities in its customer service organization to help customers in India and globally with a seamless online shopping experience. These positions are open in Hyderabad, Pune, Coimbatore, Noida, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mangaluru, Indore, Bhopal and Lucknow.

Madhya Pradesh government constitutes commission for welfare of migrant workers: The Madhya Pradesh government constituted a migrant labourers commission to employ the workers according to their skills and ability. The commission will work on the welfare of migrant labourers and their families, creation of employment opportunities and skill development.

ABB power grid joins hands with NITW: ABB power grid has collaborated with NITW to launch the first of its kind M.Tech programme in Smart Electric Grid from the current academic year. The new initiative is intended to promote skill development and research activities in SEG and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. 

CII to partner with Tamil Nadu government in skill development: CII is going to collaborate with the government to carry out a skill mapping study in the State and also organize skill development programmes to enhance the skill level of the workforce in tier two and three towns.

IBM and MSDE to launch a free digital learning platform for jobseekers in India: IBM, in collaboration with MSDE is going to offer a free digital learning platform as part of its SkillsBuild initiative for job seekers in India. SkillBuild has already benefited 14,135 learners who have completed 40,000 courses and 77,000 hours of e-learning. 

SAP introduces Global Bharat programme to help Indian MSMEs: Tech giant SAP India launched the Global Bharat programme to equip MSMEs in the country with digital technologies, to help them become globally more competitive. Under the programme, MSMEs will have an open access to digital marketplace SAP Ariba Discovery, where any buyer can post sourcing needs and any of the four million suppliers on Ariba Network can respond with their ability to deliver the goods and services required.

Online skill development course on COVID-19 for nurses on duty: APSSDC has collaborated with the Generation India Foundation (McKinsey Social Initiative), Trained Nurses Association of India and Columbia Asia Hospitals to offer a four hour online training programme to help over 25,000 nurses and paramedical staff enhance their knowledge and competencies with respect to handling COVID-19.
