Urgent recruitment and skilling needs of Indian tech industry: The Indian IT industry is in an urgent need to recruit and skill more than two million professionals, as growing demand for exponential tech professionals puts extreme pressure on it to remain globally competitive. 

Third National HR Manager Connect by Volkswagen India: Volkswagen India concluded the third edition of its National HR Manager Connect in Cochin. The annual initiative is based on the theme ‘Engage, Educate, Excite and Excel’.

Apprenticeship guidelines yet to be followed by the Industries: It has become mandatory for companies to engage apprentices. However, economic slowdown and lack of awareness have emerged as the main reasons behind the non-compliance of the industry.

New skill development centre by Tata Power’s Powerlinks: Tata Power’s Powerlinks Transmission Ltd. has inaugurated a new Skill Development Centre in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The centre will focus on skill development and empowerment of women in rural locations.

Skill training on poultry farming: More than 39 farmers got skill training on poultry farming in Hailakandi, Assam. The two-day training program focused on different aspects of poultry and duckery farming.

Chhattisgarh:

CSSDA introduces mobile app ‘Rojgaar Sangi’: Inorder to bridge the employment gap because of opportunity inequality, CSSDA is introducing a mobile app ‘Rojgaar Sangi’. It aims to help 7 lakh skilled and trained youth to find an appropriate job.

Gujarat

BSDU organises entrepreneurship awareness camp: Bharatiya Skill Development University organized Entrepreneurship Awareness camp in collaboration with EDII-Ahmedabad. BSDU offers Skill Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma, Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc), Master of Vocation (M.Voc) and Ph.D in various skill areas.

200 youth gets trained by Cadila: Pharma major Cadila Pharmaceuticals is providing training to 200 youths through apprenticeship program. They are also getting paid as per the prescribed stipend amount. 

 Himachal Pradesh

Houston University partners Shoolini University: University of Houston has signed an Mou with Himachal based Shoolini University for collaboration in research and academic partnership.

Free skill courses by HPKVN to train 5.15 lakh youth: HPKVN is going to provide residential training programmes in various sectors in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Mohali, National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad and Central Tool Room, Ludhiana. It aims to train 5.15 lakh youth by 2022.

Jammu and Kashmir

Inclusive development in Jammu  and Kashmir: For inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir and to encourage the youth to take different job-oriented courses, skill development courses are being imparted. Institutes like AIIMS, ITIs and IIMs are going to be set up.  

Maharashtra

ITIs to be upgraded in Maharashtra: The  Government of Maharashtra is planning to upgrade 450 ITIs in the state in collaboration with Tata Trusts. The Tata Trusts would invest Rs 10,000 crore and state government would contribute Rs 1500 crore to the project.

Skill development workshop for ITI students to be conducted: CFTRI is going to conduct skill development workshop on operation and maintenance of select food processing machineries for ITI students. 

Skill development programme by Mangalore University: The postgraduate department of social work, Mangalore University initiated the skill school programme for the School students from 4th to 9th standard around Mangalore University and Konaje Grama Panchayath.

ICC collaborates with NTTF to improve youth employability: In order to meet the growing needs of skilling youth and bridging the gap of skilling with already employed people, ICC has partnered with NTTF. This initiative of ICC and NTTF is set to benefit a large number of industries and Institutes across 9 states in the East and North-East of India. Read more…

Skill development workshop for ITI students by CFTRI: CFTRI, Mysuru is going to conduct a workshop on operation and maintenance of selected food processing machineries on February 19 and 20. This will benefit the ITI students. There are 20 seats available for registration.

New training sessions launched at the JNPT: The ‘New Training Sessions’ for the students of the JNPT multi skill development centre was inaugurated. The launch of the new batch of Consignment Tracking Executive 3, Consignment Tracking Executive 4 and Inventory Clerk 4 will be an added benefit to the students.

Skill development programme on solar PV system design by NISE: NISE is going to organize a five day training programme on Solar PV System Design which will end on February 7, 2020. The objective is to provide understanding about an off-grid system, on-grid system and hybrid system.

Godrej Disha provides skill training to 1.41 lakh youth: Under Godrej Disha, part of the Good & Green initiative, 1.41 lakh youth got trained across India. The initiative provided training for sales, service, rural entrepreneurship, construction, manufacturing, and technical training.

Apprenticeship adoption can be way forward in MSME skilling: As MSME sector is in an urgent need for skilled labour, formalisation and adoption of apprentices model will be beneficial for the sector. Currently India has only 3.5 lakh apprentices.
