Skill Development minister reviews work in NE: Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship visited Guwahati, for 2 days and reviewed the skill development initiatives of the North Eastern states. He held a meeting with the Skill Development Ministers of the region.

NIESBUD to catalyse entrepreneurship and support India’s shift to knowledge-based economy: Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship reviewed the activities conducted by NIESBUD and gave clear directions on tightening the empanelment process to ensure quality of training partners in the ecosystem. The Minister said that there should be focused on delivery, content and quality of the courses being imparted by NIESBUD.

A grant of US Dollar 500,000 for Skill Development and Cottage Industry Project offered by India to Gambia: The President of India visited Gambia and offered them a grant of US dollars 500,000 in support of skill development and cottage industry project. The two sides also signed and exchanged a MOU on Cooperation in the field of Traditional Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy.

Biotech training to be offered in Himachal Pradesh: The Department of Biotechnology will be training unemployed youth in tools and techniques in the area of biotechnology within a period of three years. The project is launching by the HP Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) and the program would be executed in collaboration with the Life Science Sector Skill Development Council.

Tamil Nadu will have 48% shortage in skilled workforce by 2025: Tamil Nadu will need 32 lakh skilled and semi-skilled workers in areas such as manufacturing, health, education, construction, IT-ITeS, as per a study done by PwC for Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.

Kia Motors to have 192 service centres across 160 cities in India: The Korean automaker says it is committed to providing the best-in-class aftersales service to its customers in India. With an aim to offer a seamless and new-age car service and vehicle management, Kia will leverage IOT (Internet of Things) technology built into its ultra-modern Kia Link App.

Toyota Technical Training Institute conducts Graduation for its 10th Batch: Toyota Technical Training Institute celebrated its 10th convocation ceremony and handed over degrees to 42 students for the batch of 2016-19,TTTI is an institute has been training bright students from the rural parts of Karnataka and it has trained more than 537 students so far, who have been inducted at Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Toyota Group companies.

1 million students to be trained by CISCO in India on digital skills: Cisco aims to train one million students in India on digital skills by 2025 by expanding their Networking Academy Program for creating a pool of highly-skilled technology professionals who will accelerate India’s digital transformation.

FUEL conducts career counselling sessions for one million youth: Over one million youth have been given career counseling sessions by FUEL, a non-profit organization, which is extensively working for more than a decade in the space of career counselling, skill development and scholarship programs.

Enhancing employment opportunities through vocational training by Asian Paints: Asian Paints plans to enhance the employment opportunities and expand the skills of painters, applicators and carpenters through vocational training. The company spent Rs 25.09 crore on skill development through colour academy and conducted over 1.5 lakh training sessions.

Students to be skilled in IoT for agriculture by HPE centre in AP: Hewlett Packard Enterprise has signed a pact with Agastya International Foundation to set up a Centre of Excellence in Andhra Pradesh for skilling students on using emerging technologies like Internet of Things in agriculture.

Top 100 schools to be model centres in Haryana: Top 100 schools up to Class X and Class XII will be developed as model schools based on the evaluation of results and infrastructure for the 2019-20 session. Career counselling would be started in schools and arrangements for vocational training would be made for students.

Skill training imparted to over 10000 youth across Jammu and Kashmir: Technical Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir under the JKSDM is imparting skilling to 10566 youth in 22 sectors, including Construction, Logistics, Tourism, Electronics, Beauty and Wellness, Green Energy, Media and Entertainment, IT, Plumbing, Apparel, Retail etc., in various training institutes across the State.

India’s first space tech park to come up in Kerala: The Kerala government will set up India’s first space tech park at the Thiruvananthapuram’s Knowledge City. The move is expected to make the city a manufacturing hub for space-related technology.

‘She Skills’ programme launched by ASAP in Kerala: Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) is rolling out the ‘She Skills’ program to enable females above 15 years of age with job skills for sectors like banking, retail, apparel, beauty, wellness and food processing.

Three from Odisha competing In World Skills Competition in Russia: Three youths from Odisha, Xenophon Das will take part in the M-Cad event, S Aswatha Narayana will compete in the Water Technology event and Abinash Swain will represent the country in the CNC Turning event in the coveted World Skills International Competition in Kazan, Russia.
