Success Stories of Skilled Women from MSRLM

The Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) has been launched in Maharashtra in July 2011 as a registered organization under the aegis of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) – Aajeevika – endeavours to impact rural poverty through a range of comprehensive and strategic livelihoods interventions in a time bound manner. The Mission aims at eradication of rural poverty by building sustainable institutions of poor and ultimately leading them to sustainable livelihoods.

The conceptualization and design of the MSRLM goes beyond income generation activities and employment programs to include capacity building, financial inclusion, social mobilization and marketing services as equally important elements of livelihoods enhancement. Here you can see three women who have overcome their financial situations by taking advantage of a program offered by this organization.

Bhagyashri Lede, Kiran Bhonde and Punam Rahangdale were all part of a program called the DDU_GKY facilitated by AVON Nagpur under the UMED, MSRLM. Upon completing the program they were successfully placed in places like Pizza Hut and KFC and are earning well today.

MSRLM_TE_bhagyashreeShe is a resident of Lonara Taluka Tumsar Dist. Bhandara. They are three daughters and one son, she feels dominated because of her height, her father is highly addicted to alcohol. Her father is a labourer and the only earning member in the family. It is very difficult for the family to meet their expenses. One day she came to know about DDU-GKY being conducted at AVON F.M.S., Besa, Nagpur. She got training under the HOSPITALITY Trade. She spent her maximum time in the HSPT Lab understanding the nuances of the profession. She enjoyed a lot of programs which took place at the training centre and handling the different responsibilities assigned to her.

Today she has joined one of top listed catering services named “PIZZA HUT” as a Team Member, she loves to handle customers, provide kitchen services and also learn dancing. Now she is the main bread earner for her family. She is happy that she is earning well and is able to support her family. She thanks the entire staff of DDU-GKY, AVON Nagpur for giving her the opportunity to learn.

Kiran Bhonde: Team member Pizza Hut

msrlm_te_kiranKiran is a resident of champa Tal. Umred Dist. Nagpur. They are 3 siblings. Her father is a labourer and the only earning member in the family. It is very difficult for the family to meet their expenses. One day she heard about the DDU-GKY program being implemented at AVON F.M.S., Besa, Nagpur. She attended a training program under HOSPITALITY Trade. She spent a large amount of time in the HSPT Lab to understand the nuances of the business. She enjoyed a lot of programs which were conducted at the training centre by handing the different responsibilities and tasks assigned to her.

Today she works in one of top listed catering services named “PIZZA HUT” as a Team Member, she loves to handle customers and provide kitchen services, and she has been awarded as the “Best Employee”. Now she is significantly contributing to her family’s earnings and is happy to support her family. Thanks to the entire staff of DDU-GKY, AVON Nagpur.

Punam Rahangdale: Cashier at KFC

MSRLM_TE_PUNAMPunam a resident of Dongarla Village of Tumsar Taluka, Dist. Nagpur. She is the older daughter and has passed HSC. She belongs to BPL family. Her parents are Labourers working on other’s land. Continuing education was difficult for her due to financial conditions. Her family does not have any land and do not earn enough to meet the household needs. She belongs to OBC Category. She came to know about the DDU-GKY program from the Panchayat Samiti being organised at AVON F.M.S., Besa, Nagpur. She got training under the RETAIL Trade. She engaged maximum time in RETAIL Lab in order to inculcate the skills which are very essential to enhance and understand the customer relationship.
