The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has come forward to help in skilling the less privileged youth in the country by supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For more than a decade IHCL has been helping in bridging the skills – employability gap.
IHCL has been Building Livelihoods Programme Since 2007 and has trained and certified over 20,000 youth who had dropped out from schools belonging to remote areas, urban slums and tribal belts in association with Industrial Training Institutes, Non-Governmental Organizations, TISS School of Vocational Education and Tata Strive to name a few.
IHCL in collaboration with Tata Strive is currently running fourteen skill centers across India. A large number of these skill training programs are in the areas of Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Services, Spa, Kitchen and Bakery trades and are designed as short practical courses with in-built on-the-job exposure, training in soft skills and basic spoken English too.
Through this Programme, IHCL continues to build a quality talent pool for the hospitality industry and aims to develop and support deserving youth and their families in the country. Over 85% of the trained students immediately secure job placements in the hotel and service industry.
Professional certificates are awarded to the trained people on completion of the courses in association with the programme partners and Tourism Sector Skills Council.
