India Education Forum, a higher education focused think-tank, created a platform for leadership of various universities, colleges and corporates to exchange ideas on the topics directly or indirectly related to education. The forum organised its 3rd National Conclave in collaboration with its knowledge partner TeamLease Skills University on 13th November at Hotel Hilton, Andheri (E), Mumbai. With the topic “Reimagining Employee Productivity”, this forum promoted the understanding about the challenges, the market, the regulations, the industry’s perspective, the ingredients and the impact of focusing on the idea of skilling the workforce.
The keynote address was presented by Mr. Manish Sabharwal, Chairman TeamLease who focussed on the new world of education vs new world of college vs new world of work. He also spoke how close to half of India’s labour force contributes 14% of India’s GDP and how those numbers need to change to achieve the goal of a 5 trillion economy by 2025.
The keynote address was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Neeti Sharma, Senior Vice President, TeamLease. The speakers included Mr. Pradeep Bhosekar, L&D Head Godrej, Mr. Pinank Goradia, AVP & Head of L & D, Quality Kiosk, Mr. Vinod Nair, Associate Vice President & Head – Human Resources, Mahindra Finance and Dr. Deepak Deshpande, CHRO- Netmagic Solutions. The panel discussion revolved around how are companies measuring productivity of their employees, with so much of investments today on learning, how are companies measuring their return on investment. The panel also discussed how do they define a candidate as job ready because schools and colleges don’t prepare us for life. The panel discussion also included the discussion on soft skills and how is it becoming more valuable than hard skills as we go higher and what are the tools that companies use to assess their employees

Mr Vinod stressed on the importance of certification at every level in an employee’s life cycle in an organization. He said “It is essential that everything combines towards business goals. Our intention should be to make employees employable and grow within the organization.” Dr Deshpande shared that “the only way to achieve job ready candidates is to be agile and to embrace the future of learning – driven by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”. Mr Pinank highlighted that “belief in training and learning culture itself is a training agenda”. Mr Bhosekar sees the future of employability in apprenticeships.
Concluding remarks and vote of thanks was presented by Mrs Kavita Rooj. TeamLease believe that the event was able to bring together thoughts from various leaders in the industry, towards enhancing employability and productivity of India’s young workforce.
