8th Batch Convocation of Furniture and Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) Short-Term Skill Development Program at NSTI Hyderabad

Overview of the FFSC Short-Term Skill Development Program

The short-term program was designed as an industry-aligned training intervention aimed at preparing participants for employment across furniture manufacturing, installation, and interior fit-out roles. The program focused on building practical competencies required at the shop-floor and site levels, while strengthening participants’ understanding of industry workflows and quality standards.

FFSC Centre of Excellence at NSTI Hyderabad: Training Delivery Framework

The FFSC Centre of Excellence was established through a Memorandum of Understanding between FFSC and NSTI, a premier institution under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. The Centre provides access to upgraded training infrastructure and supports fresh skilling, reskilling, upskilling, and multi-skilling initiatives for the furniture and allied industry.

The Centre is supported by Greenpanel Foundation, which enables training batches at the CoE and contributes to strengthening industry-aligned skill development in the sector.

Training Components and Learning Focus under the FFSC Program

The program followed a blended training approach combining classroom instruction with hands-on practical exposure. Key focus areas included:

  • Furniture installation techniques
  • Machine operations and shop-floor practices
  • Exposure to real production and installation environments
  • Experiential, hands-on learning guided by industry professionals

Participants also benefited from industry interactions and practical exposure aligned with real workplace conditions.

Participants and Industry Relevance of the FFSC Program

The program attracted a diverse cohort of participants, reflecting its relevance across experience levels and career stages. The batch included:

  • Individuals with prior work experience in related trades
  • Early-career learners seeking entry into the furniture sector
  • Participants from academic backgrounds, including at least one engineering graduate

This mixed participant profile highlighted the program’s credibility and its ability to support both workforce entry and career transition pathways.

Funding Structure and Access Model for the FFSC Program

The training batch followed a mixed participation model. A majority of participants were supported through Greenpanel Foundation, while others enrolled through non-funded routes. This approach enabled wider access to training while maintaining a common learning environment for all participants.

Program Completion and Certification under FFSC

The program completion event formally acknowledged participants who successfully met the training requirements. Certificates were awarded to trainees, marking their readiness to pursue employment opportunities and further industry engagement in the furniture and interior sector.

Industry Interface and Placement Engagement Facilitated through FFSC

As part of the program completion process, a placement drive was organised to facilitate interaction between trainees and industry representatives. Employers engaged with participants to assess job readiness and discuss potential roles aligned with the skills acquired during the program.

Industry representatives included:

  • Mr. Ajay Varaprasad, Director, Modulux Interio Pvt Ltd
  • Mr. Subhojith, HR Manager, ANB Interior & Exteriors Pvt Ltd
  • Mr. Charan, General Manager – Production, Fabience

The placement engagement provided participants with exposure to industry expectations and employment pathways.
