Availability of skilled workforce is a basic requisite for a progressive economy and Government of India is striving to realize its goal to train over 40 crore (400 million) people in India in different skills by 2022.
Why skill the youth?
Just as literacy would have a direct impact on the economy of a nation, so does skilling – for it can be translated into employable knowledge yielding jobs across a diverse range of industries. Few top advantages that summarize the impact of having skilled workforce:
- Increased employment opportunities for the youth
- Better skilled labour for various organizations
- Enhancement of the national economy
Nonetheless, the gap between knowledge/skills and jobs, and lack of availability of skilled human resources calls for many interventions in the social sector. Empowering youth with appropriate training and helping them get a job or supporting them to become entrepreneurs is one of the ways to address the key issue of poverty alleviation and social upliftment. This is indeed the need of the hour!
There are many more miles to go in addressing the pressing social problems of the country with the help of right innovative ideas and committed individuals. In order to help the skilling sector fulfil its goals, we need more social entrepreneurs to come forward and address the gaps in the sector with creative solutions.

UnLtd India, is a launchpad for early stage social entrepreneurs. UnLtd India has partnered with J.P.
