SEEDAP Organizes CxO meet with Sector Skill Councils (SSCs)

Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development in Andhra Pradesh (SEEDAP) organized CxO meet on 7th June 2019 at Vijayawada, which was chaired by Sri. J.S.V. Prasad, I.A.S, Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Andhra Pradesh for partnership building with sector skill councils. Sri. Dr. A. Srikanth, IRTS, Managing Director& Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), Sri. Dr. M. Varaprasad, Chief Executive Officer, SEEDAP and Sri. D. Ramesh, Executive Director, SEEDAP were also present for the meeting.

SEEDAP works under the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Andhra Pradesh with an objective to empower the rural youth by providing them market driven employability skill training.

SEEDAP implements various skill development programs such as

  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY)
  • Sagarmala
  • SANKALP
  • Livelihoods in Full Employment (LIFE)
  • Andhra Yuva Sakhti (AYS)
  • Direct Placements
  • National Rurban Mission (NRuM)

SEEDAP is the largest skill development agency in the country and the Nodal Agency to implement DDU-GKY program in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

SEEDAP organized a first of its kind partnership building meet with major Sector Skill Councils, Industry Associations and National Institutes. The CxO meet was organized with an objective to bring together the Industries and Government to strengthen the skill ecosystem across various sectors in Andhra Pradesh by nurturing the cordial relation between key stakeholders that is the Industries and the Government. The CxO meet impelled in engrossing the prominent stakeholders to discuss on the importance of collaborations and finding potential solutions to bridge the skill gap in the state. The chief officers of 8 sector skill councils namely,

  1. Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI)
  2. Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC)
  3. Capital Goods Skill Council (CGSC)
  4. Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDC)
  5. Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI)
  6. Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI)
  7. Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC)
  8. Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Council (THSC)

And representatives of Institutions and Associations like Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), National Institute of Design (NID), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industries (VCCI) attended the meeting.

SEEDAP sought the support of Sector Skill Councils

  • To formulate skill training programs according to emerging technologies in each sector, which would fetch high end jobs to the unemployed youth of the state.
  • To support SEEDAP in conducting Training of Trainers (ToT) for all trainers to enhance the quality of training provided.
  • To conduct CxO meets for each sector, to bring in more industries as skilling partners.
  • As representatives of Industries to sensitize the industry about skilling initiatives of SEEDAP through workshops and likewise intimate the needs of industry to SEEDAP, thereby facilitating to strengthen the relation as well as bridge the gap between industry and skilling provider.

The Sector Skill Councils responded positively to strengthen the skill ecosystem of Andhra Pradesh and work in collaboration with SEEDAP. The Capital Goods Skill Council (CGSC) and Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDC) entered a Memorandum of Understanding with SEEDAP to train about 20,000 youth for the next 3 years.

    We want to organising the skill developement programmes to our students & other students in our institution to improve the skills and knowledge of the students to fulfill the needs of the industry by students to reduce the unemployment and encourage them to become a entreprenuers at the present situations .Most of the students in this area are rural background students,they have the subjective skills in a good manner but they are having in a low level of communication and development skills and lack of entreprenurial motivational knowledge,so to improve these types of skills we are ready to take intiative to provide these types of skills to the students,Hence,we request you to provide skill development center to our institution for improve the skills and create awareness about the employment opportunities as well as the entrprenuership.
