Skill development news from government and academia

NSDC ties up with UAE institute to set up international driver training centres in India: NSDC has collaborated with the UAE-based Emirates Driving Institute and the Youth Chamber of Commerce to set up driver training institutes in different parts of India. The partnership will facilitate the candidates to acquire a UAE driving licence and help provide employment opportunities for Indians in the UAE and other parts of the Middle East

As a part of Ontario’s business mission to India, the Minister of Economic Development emphasised on jobs and trade opportunities. Meeting with key Indian stakeholders, including companies, government and educational institutions, Mr Todd Smith said Ontario was open for jobs environment where colleges and universities partner with companies to ensure employability and explored opportunities for future collaboration.

Tata Motors partners with Nirma University to Enhance Technical Skills of employees: Tata Motors announced a partnership with Nirma University to provide B. Tech degree to its employees working at the Sanand Plant in Gujarat. The training will include classroom sessions, virtual labs and on-the-job training in state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing & customer support facilities in Tata Motors.

Internship web portal for engineering students goes live : APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University ties-up with Advanced skill acquisition program (ASAP) to launch the internship web portal for engineering students to apply for industrial training. This was launched with a view to increase the employability of engineering students.

Merck and India’s FSSAI Partner on Skill Development in Food Safety: Merck developed a fully equipped microbiological testing laboratory for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The Center for Microbiological Analysis Training (C-MAT) will provide training to food safety scientists from government laboratories and FSSAI-ratified private laboratories on the latest technology in microbiological testing.

Canon India celebrates first anniversary of Maheshwari Village adoption: Canon India celebrated one year of successful intervention in Maheshwari Village, Haryana, under its flagship CSR initiative, ‘Adopt a Village’.They have focused on the development of over 4000 villagers, with a special focus on the holistic development of children in the village school.

Salesforce Trailhead is democratising skills for the future workforce: New technologies are evolving more rapidly than before and creating new jobs globally. It’s a challenge for schools to keep up with the pace of innovation. The Trailhead programme was initiated in 2014 to empower everyone to learn the skills they need to land a job in the workforce of today and tomorrow.

GADVASU conferred with RPL award for training 2000 dairy farmers: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has been awarded with the prestigious Recognition of Prior Learning project in the agriculture sector under the PMKVY scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, for providing training to 2000 dairy farmers for the job role of a dairy farmer/entrepreneur to farmers of Punjab.
