Indian Vocational Training Market to grow at a CAGR of 23% over the period FY 2019-2023

According to a report Indian Vocational Training Market 2019 was valued at INR 90 bn in 2011 and is likely to grow at a CAGR of 23%. Government has set a target of preparing 500 million skilled workers by 2022, as 75-80 million jobs will be created over the next 5 years and 75% of them will require vocational training.

Popular Upskilling Courses In 2019 are likely to be Blockchain Developer and Data Analytics

There is still a high demand for skills in new technologies and the number of opportunities in the tech employment is likely to increase by 12% by the year 2020. Most of these opportunities will be available in the mainstream new age technologies, such as Machine Learning, Blockchain, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

Year 2017-18 showed rise in FDI in food processing sector by 24 %

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries is leading the food processing industry in India. The efforts of the ministry have led to FDI in food processing sector rising by 24 per cent in 2017-18. Among its many achievements during the year was launching the Skill Development Scheme for Human Resources and Institution – Skill Development (SHRISD) for assisting Skilling Infrastructure and Development of Course Curriculum.

CoE inaugurated by Maruti Suzuki at Government Polytechnic, Manesar

Maruti Suzuki India has undertaken various skill development initiatives under its CSR program. It inaugurated a Centre of Excellence at the Government Polytechnic, Manesar in Haryana.

2 million employees to be trained in the apparel sector by 2022

Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) has planned to train two million employees in managerial, supervising and technical skills by 2022.

1.2 lakh government jobs to be filled up in Punjab

Punjab chief minister stated that 1.2 lakh vacant posts in various government departments would be filled in a phased manner. In the first phase the staff shortage would be addressed in critical departments like health, education and medical education and research departments.

CICU partners with Punjab state government

The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertaking (CICU) has been empanelled and upgraded as a training partner for Punjab under various government schemes for skill development.

Mission – 1000 to skill 30000 Assam youths

The North East Institute of Advanced Studies has launched the Mission -1000, to train about 3,00,000 youths from Assam in five years by providing advanced skilled development and exam lessons.

Bihar approves proposal to make 2-year ITI diploma equal to Inter degree

The governing body of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has approved the labour resources department’s proposal to make two-year diploma from state Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) equivalent to Intermediate degree.

Kashmir to focus on Technical courses to increase employability of youth

Advisor to Governor, today stressed on introduction of IT courses in demand with the market requirements to increase employability of youth.

Skill development program on Floriculturist – open cultivation started in Jammu

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the administration of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu started 35 days Skill Development programme on Floriculturist-Open cultivation at Samba. 20 participants attended the programme.

Kashmir ITIs is to provide training to unorganized workers

Kashmir Government will impart skill upgradation training to unorganized workers through Industrial Training Institutes for trades like tailoring, automobile mechanic, computer application, fruit and food preservation, Refrigeration and Air conditioning repair etc.

The Odisha State Skill Development Corporation visited Andhra Pradesh to understand the skill development initiatives in the state as it was ranked number 1 in the country with the highest employability rate.

The Central government runs skill development training program across states, so that people of different status can join the employment sources in different ways. Gujarat is second in the country in this training.

The Entrepreneurship Development Programme on “Skill training on Total Waste Management for Rural Entrepreneurship Development” organized by (NRDC) in association with RELEARN Foundation started. This training program is being organized under the Skill India Scheme for Entrepreneurship Development in North East and Rural Areas.

In order to revive the rubber industry in Tripura the Chief Minister has declared several measures to boost the quality of rubber production in the state.

Tool Room and Training Centre inaugurated to develop entrepreneurship in Tripura

Tripura inaugurated a Tool Room and Training Centre for developing entrepreneurship skills in Agartala. The training centre will provide training in skill development and hands-on practical training to students in various trades in 15 Industrial Training Institutes across the state.

Vocational training provided to juvenile inmates by UP government

The Uttar Pradesh government is launching a three-month course for the minor inmates lodged at government juvenile homes and woman shelter homes across the state. In this programme, the inmates will be given different kind of vocational trainings based on their educational qualification and age.

NASSCOM and IIT – Madras tie up for skill development

Nasscom announced a partnership with the IIT Madras for reskilling students and employees in the Information Technology sector and IT-enabled Services (ITeS). This partnership aims to at build an able workforce to support the industry and other stakeholders.

Under PMKVY 33.5 lakh skilled in the last 4 years

The government has provided skill training to over 33.5 lakh people in electronics, IT and IT-enabled services sectors between the financial year 2014-15 and 2017-18. Minister of State for Electronics and IT said that MSDE through PMKVY and two schemes being run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) provided the training.

2,000 women artisans to be trained by LTI and UNDP
