18 Million Covid-19 themed malware and phishing emails are being blocked per day. Businesses are attacked up to 4000 times a day using ransomware. The speed at which cyber attacks are growing is alarming. It is going to be the biggest threat to the world economy over the next decade.

Millions of people could be harmed through cyber attacks simultaneously on a global scale. These cyber-attacks can be controlled only by upping our game in Cyber Security.

Why is Cyber Security critical in today’s world?

Today, starting from fridge to washing machine and even door locks for that matter, everything we use has become smart. As the use of smart gadgets has increased, the Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming even larger. This has made it easier for the attackers to attack via different fronts such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and others. So, security for all these connected devices is absolutely essential.

Moreover, with the global pandemic, the entire world is now online. Technology adoption is faster than ever before. Now we are able to work, learn, shop and transact from home. The use of DeepTech solutions has made work-from-home, distance learning, home-based fitness, and remote healthcare possible and this will be the new normal of the future.

18 Million Covid-19 themed phishing emails go around each day_ What does this mean to you_The more we use technology, the more we are prone to data breach and other cyber threats. Nearly 2000 malicious coronavirus-themed websites are being set up each day and are blocked by Google since the beginning of the crisis. As per a report, cyber attacks have risen by 630% amid COVID-19.

At the same time, another survey points out, two-thirds of organizations expect an expansion of work-from-home policies to remain in effect for a longer period and permanently in some cases. If this materializes, then there will be organizational data easily available in a less secure environment. Not only the organizational data, even our transaction details, but bank details are also now more exposed to cyber attacks as the use of online banking and digital payments have increased.

Building a career in Cyber Security

As cyber-attacks have increased, the demand for skilled Cyber Security professionals has increased. As per a report by Gartner, 1.5 Million Cyber Security Professionals needed globally by the end of 2020. Companies are looking for professionals who have the right skills and have an analytical mindset. As of today, there are over 67,000 job openings for Cyber Security professionals in India alone. Cyber Security is an evergreen industry and the career of tomorrow as the demand for Cyber Security professionals is directly proportional to the adoption of technology.

You must invest your time in learning the right kind of skills and building expertise. There are courses available which would help you acquire the right skill set along with getting a certification. These courses are specially designed to build your Cyber Security expertise and to make you industry-ready.
