Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC
- The New Era of Energy conference, attended by 8,500 delegates and over 3,000 youth, highlighted India’s Green Hydrogen commitment with an innovative GH2THON hackathon, quiz, poster competition, and youth session.
- The central government to partner with the UGC to upskill undergraduates and address India’s widening skills gap.
- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has introduced new draft norms for “New Age ITIs,” easing compliance and streamlining affiliation processes to strengthen industry-vocational training integration.
- NSDC, in collaboration with Ethnotech Academy and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, launched the “Centre for Future Skills” to equip students with cutting-edge technology skills, fostering partnerships between academia, industry.

- National Engineering Day highlights India’s engineering contributions, while a TeamLease report reveals that only 10% of 1.5 million graduating engineers are expected to secure jobs, citing a 45% skills gap among graduates.
- Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated ‘Constitution Temples’ at vocational training centers in 434 ITIs across Maharashtra.
- HDFC Bank aims to increase the income of 5 lakh marginal farmers by 2025 under its ‘Parivartan’ initiative, launched in 2014 to drive socio-economic development across India.
- The Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship concluded a two-week mobile skill training on baking for 25 rural women in Mangkolemba, awarding certificates and toolkits to successful participants.
- The Punjab Skill Development Mission has signed MoUs with 20 industries and business associations, paving the way for 50,000 job opportunities and enhancing youth employability.
- Students from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are now eligible for jobs in the government of Tamil Nadu, issued by the school education department.
- SMVDU has inaugurated its Skill Hub Centre, supported by the Government of India, to boost skill development and vocational training in alignment with initiatives like PM Vishwakarma Scheme and PMKVY.
- An AR-VR lab has been established at the Government ITI in Karimnagar, enabling students to practice trades like electrician and welder through immersive learning under the National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI).
- Tata Steel Foundation, in partnership with the Jharkhand government, has inaugurated its third ITI in the state, ITI Chandil, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the 1,000-acre PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, Maharashtra, during the National ‘PM Vishwakarma’ Programme, where he also launched the “Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centre” scheme.
- Airbus, in partnership with Tata STRIVE, has opened two skill centres in Delhi and Bengaluru to provide training in aviation and IT sectors for underprivileged youth, offering courses in areas like Cybersecurity, Ethical Hacking, and soft skills development.
