NEP 2020 – The Game Changer for Indo-German Collaboration: A Webinar Series

National Skills Network (NSN), in collaboration with iMOVE, is organizing a webinar series titled ‘NEP 2020 – The Game Changer for Indo-German Collaboration.’

This series aims to unite institutions and organizations from the TVET and skill education ecosystems in India and Germany to catalyze new collaboration ideas and unlock the potential of NEP 2020 for innovative, mutually rewarding partnerships between the two countries.

Top highlights in skill education in India

  • India and Singapore signed four MoUs on digital development, healthcare, electronics, and skill development, including cooperation on emerging technologies and digital upskilling.
  • Telangana will introduce an AI curriculum in government schools, with plans to develop it in-house, and has signed 26 MoUs with tech giants and institutions at the Global AI Summit.
  • Visa and the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) have partnered in a three-year, USD 1 million initiative to upskill 20,000 Indian youths in skills relevant to the tourism industry.

RFP Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurship Programs

Nasscom Foundation is inviting organizations to submit proposals to support a project focused on empowering rural women entrepreneurs in sectors such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, Processing, Handicraft, and Handloom.

The initiative targets regions including Delhi (NCR), Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC

  • The Goa government has signed an MoU with NSDC to establish an International Skill Centre, aiming to create a world-class skill development ecosystem for Goan youth.
  • Reliance Foundation has launched the Reliance Foundation Skilling Academy to prepare India’s youth for the evolving job market, in collaboration with NSDC.

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  • Schaeffler India has launched the second edition of its REPXPERT Mobile Training Van campaign to upskill mechanics in the commercial vehicle segment after the first edition reached over 2,600 mechanics across 42 cities in India.
  • The Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) has launched the Lineman Certification Programme in partnership with BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) under the RPL initiative, aiming to upskill BYPL’s electrical workforce in line with Central Electricity Authority safety regulations.
  • Indore’s ITI has received a demand for over 10,000 workers from industries in Pithampur, Indore, and Dewas, and is exploring sourcing students from other centers in the state to meet the requirement.
  • Kashipur ITI in Uttarakhand is set to launch the state’s first-ever course in plastic processing operations, marking a significant step in vocational education for the region.
  • The Chhattisgarh government announced interest-free loans for students from Maoist-affected districts to pursue technical and vocational education under the Chief Minister’s Higher Education Loan Interest Subsidy Scheme.
  • Syngenta India has launched the ‘I RISE’ program to enhance agricultural skills among rural youth under 35, offering 30 days of training and a two-month internship to boost employment in the agriculture sector.
  • Medhavi Skills University (MSU) has partnered with RIICO to offer specialized skill development programs in semiconductor-related fields across Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, as part of RIICO’s CSR initiative.
  • Krystal Integrated Services has partnered with Nicomac Taikisha Clean Rooms to deploy 400 workers, including 125 ITI freshers, to enhance operational efficiency and support contamination control and clean room protocols.
  • Air India SATS has signed an MoU with the Government of Odisha to provide skill development training for the aviation sector, addressing the anticipated surge in airport passenger capacity and fleet size.
  • A 3-day Capacity Building Program in Ladakh, organized by the District Skill Committee Kargil and the Animal Husbandry Department, aims to enhance dairy farming practices and livestock management for local farmers.
  • ITIs have shown improved performance in a new grading by the Ministry of Skill Development, with 18.9% scoring over 8 out of 10 this year, up from 12.4% last year.
  • The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Rs 100-crore ‘Nipuna Karnataka’ program to boost the global competitiveness of the state’s youth, including a Rs 10 crore pilot project this year.
  • Bajaj Engineering Skills Training Centre opened at SASTRA Deemed University to train students and enhance India’s manufacturing talent.

  • COL-CEMCA Conducts Three-Day Workshop on Graduate Employability at YCMOU, Nashik, MaharashtraDr. Madhuri Dubey, Founder-Director, NSN, facilitated the workshop as a part of the Commonwealth of Learning - Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CoL-CEMCA) Project on enhancing graduate employability by integrating appropriate skills into the curriculum.The workshop was organized by CoL-CEMCA in collaboration with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik, from 10th to 12th March, 2026, at the YCMOU campus in Nashik, Maharashtra under the guidance of Dr. B. Shadrach, Director, CEMCA and Dr Jane Agbu , Adviser Higher Education, Commonwealth of Learning.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, honourable Vice-Chancellor, YCMOU, and coordinated by Dr. Amol Shirfule, Director i/c, Yash Center for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages and Dr. Nagarjun Wadekar, Director, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, YCMOU.As a part of the comprehensive Graduate Employability Project, the workshop brought together academic leaders representing different schools of specialization, course coordinators, and faculty members from YCMOU to strengthen curriculum design with a focus on employability skills and industry relevance.The workshop emphasised the transition from traditional content-driven teaching to outcome-based education using the Results-Based Management (RBM) Framework.
