Mr Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, paid a visit to the ICICI Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Jodhpur.
The Minister was informed on the RSETI’s overall progress and ongoing projects by the internal team during his visit. He advised developing a cadre of LSAs with SHG women and exploring potential in sandstone carving as a local enterprise in the district, while recognising the institute’s work. He also talked with trainees who were learning cell phone repair, photography, and videography and discussed their experiences.
Aside from the conversations and tour of the Green building, the Minister took part in the ‘Udhyamshree’ Lateral Learning Workshop. In this workshop, 30 successful alumni with various skill sets shared their transformation stories with the Minister in a one-on-one session.
While praising their achievements, he also encouraged them to continue their education and promote the RSETI on a local level. The visit came to a close with a discussion with SHG women who had set up stalls at the RSETI Bazaar, displaying a variety of products.

With a primary focus of providing vocational training to rural youth from marginalised communities, the ICICI RSETIs particularly have been offering skill training in 23 trades which have local demand including electrician and home appliance repair, plumbing and sanitary works, masonry, carpentry, two-wheeler servicing and repair, handicrafts manufacturing etc. ICICI RSETI Jodhpur also has the distinction of being recognised as India’s 1st IGBC rated ‘Net Zero Energy- Platinum’ building.
