India’s telecom industry has become a critical foundation of the country’s digital economy. The scale of India’s connectivity is significant. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), India had more than 1.33 billion telecom subscribers, over 1.09 billion internet subscribers and more than 1.06 billion broadband subscribers as of March 2026. This growing digital footprint highlights the importance of strengthening the technologies, institutions and skilled professionals supporting India’s telecommunications infrastructure.
