Artee, Student, Mohali
“Hurrah, I have been selected by TBSS “– were the jubilious words of Artee, BPO Batch of Tata STRIVE Skill Development Centre-Mohali.
Her story is one of inspiration and an indomitable will! Artee was born with a locomotor disability, which left her physically challenged. Her father, earning a meagre income as a laborer in a factory did not have the means to get her the medical treatment she needed. As a result she was left with a physical disability that threatened to damage her will and prospects for a good – wholesome life.
However, life works for those who believe in the most unexpected ways – Artee’s journey to a better future started the moment she approached TSSDC, Mohali for a counselling session. Imagine the surprise of the centre staff when they saw a girl walk in with crutches. Their immediate first thoughts were those of despair as to how a physically challenged Artee would sustain the rigors of a long travel to the TSSDC centre, followed by the intense training she would be subjected to – should she be selected for the course. However they soon realized that the fears were quite unfounded – when exposed to her will and grit. Her parting words at the end of the counselling session were – “I will definitely manage it Madam. Don’t worry”, this with smile as radiant as her confidence.
A regular and sincere learner, Artee’s performance in the class kept improving with each passing day. She asked questions, actively participated in all proceedings and performed well, her confidence levels soared through the days. When the TSSDC team visited her home for a post-training feedback, they were welcomed warmly by the family. Her mother was elated, she said that the training had been an amazing experience for Artee, as well as for them because they had never seen her so positive and enthusiastic. Her mother went on to tell us that she strongly believed that Artee would get a job and finally get a bright future that every young girl should be privy to.
Artee also thanked TATA STRIVE for the fantastic support and learnings, transforming her into a confident girl. Since completion of the BPO course, Artee has been working with Tata Business Support Services at Mohali and has been acquiring knowledge, experience and an income with dignity and self-esteem.
