News from the states
Bihar: Skilling has been emphasised by the government as a key initiative for better job opportunities in Bihar and skilled youths of Bihar may receive tablets from the government.
Chandigarh: A three-day program”3D modelling and printing” skill concluded at Design Innovation Centre, UIET, Panjab University.
Chhattisgarh: The government has launched of a programme for the welfare of the people involved in manual scavenging, with the inauguration Deen Dayal Labor Support Centre that will impart skill based training.
Delhi: 1. Yamaha supports the infrastructure of the ITIs and also provides students an opportunity to get better training facilities by donating 6 cut engine models. 2. Microsoft has supported over 4,000 Indian start-ups, skill training for 30,000 youth and helped train 26,000 teachers while working with several state governments and not-for-profit organisations between April 2016 and March 2017 in India. 3. Maruti Suzuki felicitates the first batch of Craftsmen Training Program and becomes the first automobile company to award NCVT certificates under the government’s Skill Development initiative. 4. THSC releases Training Partners Handbook at the National Training Partners Meet 5. Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) has released Training Partners Handbook and Assessors’ Handbook at its annual Training Partners Meet 2017 held in Delhi recently 5. The Union Rural Development Ministry has claimed that over five lakh rural youths have been provided skill training under its flagship program skilling and placement initiative under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalaya Yojna (DDU-GKY). 6. LinkedIn collaborates with IL&FS Skill Development for design and provide skilling modules and training environment, while LinkedIn will help the students find a job.
Gujarat: Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Skill Development Institute at Adalaj, Ahmedabad.
Haryana: Saksham Haryana mission was launched by the government with emphasis on achievement of 80 per cent grade-level competency to be carried out by a third party. The private partners would be known as Saksham Sathi and Saksham Rozgar portal to be launched soon
Jammu and Kashmir: NSDC Udaan Skill project for J&K is extended till Dec 31 next year. So far, more than 12,000 candidates had joined training and nearly 10,000 candidates were offered jobs. 140 mega selection drives were held so far covering all districts of the state.
Karnataka: 1. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) conducted a valedictory of ‘Toyota Tantrajna’, a unique skill development project initiated in association with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). 2. GroomX Finishing Academy to provide softskills training for Healthcare Sector in India. 3. Dassault Systemes to offer skilling in Aerospace and Defense Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, partnering with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in association with the Karnataka government. 4. Boeing announced a partnership with aviation ministry and Air India Engineering Services Ltd (AIESL) to develop an aircraft maintenance engineers accelerated apprenticeship program in Bengaluru. The key objective of the program is to improve the employability of AMEs through training and hands-on experience with actual aircraft.
Kerala: Kerala’s all-women self-help group to train women from other countries. The team comprised members from Afghanistan, Ghana, Uganda, Liberia, Keniya and Kudumbashree imparted them training in various aspects of entrepreneurship.
Maharashtra: Stipend worth Rs 3,15,000 awarded to 700 students belonging to minority communities at the valedictory function of ‘Seekho aur Kamao’, a skill development programme at Anjuman College of Engineering in Nagpur.
Manipur: A 200 hours Gardeners skill training was inaugurated at ICAR, Manipur Centre by K Kipgen, Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation.
Nagaland: 1. The chief minister stressed on the need to lay more emphasis on bamboo development in the state in his address on the ‘World Bamboo Day’ celebration, jointly organized by Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) and ministry of DoNER at Bamboo resource centre. 2. Odisha: 2250 micro entrepreneurs and SHGs trained in Digital Marketing Skill
Altogether 2250 micro entrepreneurs and SHGs in Odisha were trained today in Digital Marketing Skills by face book under their “Global Boost Year Business” programme here. This was the second programme under the Boost Your Business series, under which Face book in partnership with Government of Odisha through MSME Department and Project Mission Shakti has agreed to train 25,000 entrepreneurs all over the State
Puducherry: The Ministry of Minority Affairs prepared an E-portal to provide national and international markets to artisans and craftsmen.’Hunar Hubs’ across the country to provide a platform to artisans to display as well as sell their products, the minister said while inaugurating the Centre’s Hunar Haat, which is aimed at promoting craftsmen of minority communities in domestic and international markets
Rajasthan: The recent high growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Indian textiles sector has boosted the confidence levels in the textiles industry, textiles minister Smriti Irani has said. The success rate of placements of skilled workforce in textiles sector is now over 70 per cent, she said inaugurating the textiles and apparel fair Vastra 2017 in Jaipur
