The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has embarked upon several projects in Jharkand to skill the youth and enhance their employability. On 2nd April, 2017, Deoghar had the privilege of hosting honourable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee for inaugurating a national skill exhibition in Deoghar, two new large scale Driver Training Institutes (DTIs) in Dhanbad and Godda and 35 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK).
With this, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has started steering the progress roadmap for the country to enhance employability of workforce. Governor of Jharkhand Draupadi Murmu, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of Labour and Employment Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Member of Parliament from Godda Shri Nishikant Dubey, Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Smt. Rajbala Verma were also present among other dignitaries.
Inaugurating the National Skill Exhibition and Driver Training Institutes, honourable President of India said, “I am thankful to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship that they are working on basic problem of India: Creation of employment. We have largest number of workforce but unless we provide skill to our workforce they cannot become employable and these kinds of training institutes are doing the thing needed today.” Skill India has been quite close to the President’s heart. In a recent initiative, he has ensured that 1500 skilled employees at the Rashtrapati Bhavan get certified for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under PMKVY across 18 job roles.
Union Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “We have come to the land of god, Devghar, to seek blessings of god Vishwakarma and Lord Shiva. People from this region are getting trained under skill India initiative and getting job worldwide. A person trained and certified here in the Driver Training Institute can work anywhere in India like Bangalore, Delhi or Mumbai and can earn good to help himself and his family.” He further said. “Honourable President has shown personal interest in Skill India initiative. Most of the employees in President House are trained and certified under Skill India initiative.”
Driver training is an important sector for skill development, which not only leads to employment but also enhances road safety and economic progress of the nation. In the coming years, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in partnership with NSDC, local partners and the State government will strive it best, to provide effective driving training and up-gradation of skills of existing drivers, highlighting issues such as road etiquettes and imbibing its trainees with advanced driving skills.
Jharkhand is rapidly gaining recognition for its auto and auto components industry. The sector employs around 70,000 people in the state and contributes roughly 7% to India’s GDP, with scope for exponential growth. Also, Jharkhand’s auto industry is linked to the mining and metals, coal for the raw material for the various sectors which create the demand for the skill driving centre.
The launch of 35 multi-skill Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) is a historical move as it will cater to needs of youngsters from Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, J&K, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhatisgarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. These Kaushal Kendras will be a model centres for training and skilling youths to make them employable. The Grand National Skill Exhibition in the State has begun on April 2, 2017. Youth from the State can visit the Mahotsav and witness the exhibition showcasing some of the exemplary work that has been done in the skill development space.
More than 20 sectors under MSDE, will be seen coming together and sharing possibilities of career progression in the Kaushal Shivirs and also will be setting up Kaushal Rozgaar on spot interactions and interviews to extend employment opportunities to the youth of Jharkhand. The Ministry will also set up camps to undertake the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL program), which is a component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) of the government, in certain trades recognising and certifying existing skill sets of the people.
