Punam Devidas Raut, Mobiliser

Punam Raut is a mobiliser, who is working with Orion Edutech Pvt. Ltd. in DDU- GKY Project Nagpur, Maharashtra. She is amongst those few brave and well balanced women, who have given a new dimension to the “Working Women” class. She lives in Yawatmal and handles her work from there. Her family comprises a lot of people including her husband, in- laws and her 4 year old kid. She is managing her family and work single-handedly and has set the best example of a modern day woman.

It is quite difficult for a woman to be involved in mobilisation process directly as they have to be away from their home and it requires regular traveling, camp planning and thorough convincing skills. It seems these qualities are no longer the monopoly of men and Punam has proved when a girl is determined to do something, nothing can stop her from achieving her goal. Going to extreme rural areas daily with no proper facilities, transport, communication and competing with several other PIAs is not a cake- walk. During campaigning mostly she had to maintain a hectic work schedule from 5 am to 10 p.m. For the last nine months she has actively participated in mobilising activities and has carried out her tasks efficiently. Hard work and perseverance brought her success in life and now she has achieved her target in Maharastra with excellence.
