Skill development news from the government
- MSDE organized a workshop with Sending Organizations (SOs) empaneled by NSDC to foster dialogue and knowledge sharing for skilled candidates’ mobility to Japan under TITP and SSW programs.
- Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, launched a unique comic book titled “Let’s Move Forward” with a focus on promoting good health and wellness.
- The government of Tamil Nadu to soon set up electric mobility centres in state-owned polytechnics colleges to train students on the latest technological developments.
- MSDE and Common Service Centres (CSCs) SPV have collaborated to expand apprenticeship training in rural areas and will annually train 40,000 apprentices, including ITI students and JSS beneficiaries.
- On the occasion of the 63rd Foundation Day Celebration of NCERT, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan announced NCERT as Deemed-to-be-University and inaugurated the new ICT laboratory of the CIET.
Skill development news from the industry
- The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), along with the Ladakh Skill Development Mission and the University of Ladakh signed a significant tripartite MoU to usher in a new era of educational excellence and skill enhancement.
- Tata Power has launched “Train to Hire” in Odisha, partnering with technical institutes to shape future engineering careers.
- MSDE has collaborated with Amazon Web Services India to train 1,500 people in cloud skills. The goal is to train 30,000 underprivileged youth, with 50% being women.
- Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has partnered with the Y4D foundation to offer financial and digital literacy training to 25,000 women across the country, addressing skills gaps in finance and technology.
- ServiceNow partners with FutureSkills Prime for free digital skills training which supports India’s goal of becoming a global talent hub, starting with two entry-level on-demand ServiceNow courses.
Skill Development news from the academia and ITIs
- IUST in collaboration with the District Employment and Counselling Center Pulwama and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a three-month Web Designing skilling program for unemployed youth in District Pulwama.
- India’s first AI school launched in Kerala, primarily focuses on teaching students in-depth about Artificial Intelligence and advanced technologies.
- Considering the concerns of parents and youth, the Uttar Pradesh government has chosen not to raise fees for private ITIs for the 2023-24 academic session.
Skill development news from the States/UTs
- Manipur: The Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), part of the Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation in Manipur, has launched a skill development and support program for displaced individuals focused on “Agri-Horti Livelihood Activities.”
- Nagaland: The Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute Emporium in Lerie, Kohima, supported by the Ministry of Textiles, was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Darshana Jardosh.
- Odisha: World Skill Center Bhubaneswar (WSC) offers international exposure to its students through a ‘Student Exchange’ program in Singapore where 40 students from the 2022-23 batch have been selected.
- Tamil Nadu: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated a vocational training center for visual challenged graduated through dedicated faculty in Uppilipalayam, Coimbatore.
- Uttar Pradesh: UP Skill Quest 2023, organized by UPSDM and Invest UP, will be held in Lucknow from September 30 to October 1 to provide an excellent platform for youth participation in India’s business ecosystem.
