- Capacity Building Scheme for North Eastern Region by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSD&E) is implemented through the autonomous Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, Assam.
- Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met President of Global Affairs Meta Mr. Nick Clegg in New Delhi to explore technology’s potential in skill development.
- Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, stated that the semiconductors and electronics sector will have a crucial role in India’s ‘Techade’.
- MSDE implements the Polytechnics Scheme through DGT. Community Development Through Polytechnics (CDTP) offers short-term skill programs for marginalized individuals to gain self-employment.

- APL Apollo Foundation has launched Project Aarohi, a flagship initiative for women empowerment under the Tejaswini program, which empowers 50+ women in East Delhi with vocational training in the beauty trade, fostering self-reliance.
- Haier India partners with Maharashtra Government for skill development through NAPS and NATS, strengthening vocational training.
- ICAR-NBFGR Lucknow inaugurated a 3-day Skill Development Program on Ornamental Fish for 20 SC women SHG members to enhance livelihood & entrepreneurship.
- Meta has partnered with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) to extend the WhatsApp Se Wyapaar initiative, training 10 million local traders on WhatsApp Business app.
- The Textiles Ministry’s skilling scheme, Samarth, has trained more than 1.83 lakh beneficiaries at 1,880 centers over the past three years, including the current year, for worker capacity building in the textile sector.
- ASDC in collaboration with Livguard Batteries Pvt Ltd. has undertaken a new initiative to provide an upgraded workforce to the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
- Hindware partners with WMPSC to upskill 5000 plumbers in India, fostering better job prospects and entrepreneurial opportunities.
- NSDC and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s national skills development partnership completes training for 800 ambitious youth with 70 percent employed.
- Vet Varsity has partnered with Agricultural Skill Council of India for skill-based courses, to help students farmers, and other stakeholders in the farming sector, improving their employability.
Skill development news from the ITI
- The government of Goa is planning to equate a 2-year ITI certificate to a 12th pass, enabling ITI students to pursue degree and diploma courses for more opportunities.
- Over 2,60,000 applications have been received for the 1,51,576 available seats in ITIs in Maharashtra, reflecting a significant demand for skill-based job-oriented courses.
- The government of Chhattisgarh partnered with Tata Technologies to modernize 36 ITIs and introduce new trades and short-term courses for youths.
Skill development news from the States/UTs
- Andhra Pradesh: APSSDC and International Aggregation Platform for Mobility signed an MoU with an aim to be a one-stop shop for all needs related to international mobility.
- Bihar: The government of Bihar to establish mega skill centres in all 38 districts, focusing on youth’s global market-oriented skill development.
- Jharkhand: The government of Jharkhand launched Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY) to promote skill development for employment and self-employment.
- New Delhi: Over the past three years, the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) scheme, part of the skill development ministry, has trained more than 81 percent of its 13.8 lakh non-literate and neo-literate individuals, with a majority of them being women.
- Odisha: FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Bhubaneswar, and Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar have signed an MoU to promote skill development and empower women across various sectors.
