NSDC and Bird Academy sign an MoU to enhance training in Aviation and Aerospace Sector

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bird Academy to embark on various skill development programs in the Aviation and Aerospace Sector. The MoU was signed on 1st June 2017 to collaborate and impart training to 35000 candidates. It is also proposed to set up Model Centers and Centers of Excellence (CoE) in various states across India to create market ready workforce in this sector.

Highlights of the MoU between NSDC and Bird Academy

  • Bird Academy will establish CoE and Model Centers in Chandigarh, Delhi, Cochin, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa and various other locations including the north-eastern region of the country.
  • All the trainings will be aligned to the National Skills Qualification Framework.
  • Share expertise in curriculum design and content development
  • Implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for existing employees

NSDC Bird Academy MoUThe MoU was exchanged between Mr Jayant Krishna, Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, NSDC and Mrs Radha Bhatia, Secretary Bird Academy & Chairperson Bird Group in the presence of the Shri Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation. Over the duration of the MoU, NSDC and Bird Academy will support capacity building across states in Aviation, with a special focus on training 5,000 women and youth from the underprivileged section of the society.
Mr Jayant Krishna, Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, National Skill Development Corporation said that “India is among the top five fastest-growing aviation markets globally and expected to become the third largest aviation market by 2020. To meet this high growth of passenger traffic in the aviation sector, a highly skilled manpower will be required. The MoU between NSDC and Bird Academy will assist the Skill India mission and go a long way in ensuring supply of such a pool of talent in the sector.”

NSDC Bird Academy MoU 1Mrs Radha Bhatia, Secretary Bird Academy & Chairperson Bird Group said that “We recognize skill development as main focus to create a multi skilled efficient task force available for employment as part of our constant efforts in aviation industry. Bridging the critical gap between manpower availability, skilled for the specific job and employability has been a challenging task for Bird Academy. Lt Col Najam Rao, Head Bird Academy and his team is focused on and is striving to create the pool of skilled professionals for the Aviation sector.
With this focus emerged the idea of setting up skill training centers across country and partnering with NSDC under guidance of AASSC (Aerospace and Aviation sector skill council). Our main focus is on underprivileged youth and women by not only skilling them but also providing launch platform to prove their mantle. I am proud to say that we aim to achieve milestones by imparting skill training to unemployed youth and women across the country and creating thorough professional for the fastest growing aviation Industry.”
Bird Academy has also come forward to provide consultation and expertise on facilities set-up, content development, curriculum design, and provide inputs on trends and requirements in aviation and aerospace industry. They will also facilitate the existing Aviation industry employees to undertake RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and receive a formal certification.

Bird Education Society for Travel & Tourism (since 1998) referred as Bird Academy is a registered society providing skill development by way of training youth so as to enable them to gain necessary skills and qualifications recognized by the aviation and travel & tourism sector. The courses are aligned with the specialized skills and global standards required for the Aviation sector, thereby creating a pool of multi-skilled, competent and efficient workforce for airports/Airlines, FBO & MRO and GHA’s.
