GOAL Program from Ministry of Tribal Affairs in partnership with Facebook for digital skilling of 5000 tribal youth: In this program, 5000 scheduled tribe youth (to be called as ‘Mentees’) will get an excellent opportunity to get training by experts from different disciplines and fields (to be called as ‘Mentors’). There will be 1 mentor for 2 mentees. The program aims to enable Scheduled Tribe (ST) youth in remote areas to use digital platforms for sharing their aspirations, dreams and talent with their mentors. Read more….

Top 100 universities to start online courses by 30th May: The Human Resource and development ministry has allowed top 100 Indian universities to start online degree courses automatically from 30 May 2020. The permission has been granted under the ‘PM eVIDYA’ programme for multi-mode access to e-education.
Returning migrants to get job cards: Job cards are being allocated to the returning migrant workers by panchayat and rural development department of Assam. This will ensure their employment under MGNREGA at the earliest.
Employment exchange to address demand and supply mismatch of labourers: The department of Information and Technology (IT) and RSLDC have started developing a portal for the labour employment exchange to ensure the employment of migrant workers. Through this, the mismatch between demand and supply of workers in the state will be addressed.
Textile mills in Maharashtra’s Ichalkaranji to train locals: To deal with the skilled workforce crunch, Textile mills in Maharashtra’s Ichalkaranji are going to train locals. Members of Ichalkaranji powerloom association had also approached the skill development department for providing them with semi-skilled workers.
UP to deploy migrant labour as soon as possible: The Uttar Pradesh government has asked eight departments to create 20 lakh jobs especially for migrants. The state has also set up an employment committee headed by the agriculture production commissioner.
Online platform to map skilled workforce: The government of India is going to create a platform to map skilled workers. The portal will map details of workers based on region and demand across industries. The portal is being developed by NSDC and an AI firm. It will be launched by mid-June.
COVID-19 certification course by AISECT: AISECT has launched a certification course on COVID-19 and its Management. The course is available in both English and Hindi version.
Rs 10,000 crore scheme to support micro food processing units: A new central scheme with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore has been approved by the Union Cabinet. The ”Scheme for Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises” was announced as part of the Rs 20 lakh crore Atma Nirbhar package to tackle the economic slump resulting from COVID-19 pandemic.
Opportunities for pharma, medical equipment industries: There are immense opportunities in the field of pharmaceutical, medical equipment and herbal medicines in Uttar Pradesh. The state is going to prepare a policy in this regard after consulting experts.

Skill Development Courses by IIM Ranchi And Entrepreneurship Development Institute Of India: IIM Ranchi and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India will jointly develop certificate courses on entrepreneurship development and skill enhancement. This collaboration will help tribal youths who have potential but need direction.
WE HUB collaborates with VMware India to help women resume work: VMware India has signed a MoU with the WE HUB,a Government of Telangana initiative for women entrepreneurs, to extend VMinclusion Taara’s upskilling and return to work program in the State. The partnership aims to empower women with the skills they need to return to their dormant/ interrupted technology careers.
