Skill development news from the government

NSDC collaborates with eight countries to enhance the country’s vocational education training: NSDC has signed MoUs with eight countries including Japan, UAE, Sweden, and Russia, for cooperation in the field of vocational education and training in the country. 

Job creation schemes since FY16 have benefitted over 57 lakh: The government’s various schemes and programmes meant for employment generation have benefited over 57 lakh youth since 2015-16. Also, 1.21 crore formal sector employees have benefited from PMRPY. 

New guidelines announced for Pottery and Beekeeping schemes: The ministry of MSME has announced new guidelines for schemes such as Pottery and Beekeeping activity under which it expanded and doubled the support for these two activities.

19,854 students trained under skill development scheme: A total of 19,854 students have been trained in Nagaland under PMKVY 2.0 in  the last three years.

Government to focus on skilling in areas like telemedicine: The government is going to focus on skilling, reskilling and upskilling sectors like health sector where courses are developed in areas like telemedicine, and sanitization. The government has asked training providers and training centres to organize rozgar melas with the support of sector skill councils to help skilled persons get jobs.

Ministry of MSME re-activates micro industrialization process in rural India: Ministry of MSME had announced expanding and doubling the support to Artisans who might be interested in making Agarbatti. 

Next version of PMKVY is being examined: The government of India has been examining the next version of PMKVY as the PMKVY 2.0 (2016-2020) will come to an end on March 31 next year.

Upcoming Big Billion Days by Flipkart to create 70,000 seasonal jobs: Walmart owned Flipkart will generate over 70,000 direct and lakhs of indirect seasonal jobs in the country during its upcoming Big Billion Days sale. Direct job opportunities will be created across Flipkart’s supply chain, including roles like delivery executives, pickers, packers and sorters. 

SpringPeople partners Udacity to address the skill gap in Indian IT industry: SpringPeople has partnered with Udacity to announce new guidelines for schemes such as Pottery and Beekeeping activity under which it expanded and doubled the support for these two activities.

WhatsApp partners with CSC to launch a chatbot: WhatsApp has partnered with CSC to launch a chatbot aiming Digital Literacy and rural entrepreneurship.

Goa

Goa government collaborates with GIM to carry out vocational training for ITI trainers: The government of Goa has partnered with GIM to carry out vocational training for ITI trainers to enhance their skill set. The training would primarily engage ITI trainers in industrial production and services executed under CTS. 

Haryana

Over 5000 ITI students to get skill development training in Haryana: Haryana skill development and industrial training department has signed a series of dual system of training (DST) MoUs under which over 5,500 students would receive industry-oriented skill development training in around 60 government ITIs. 

Karnataka

Karnataka ITIs to undergo a major makeover: The ITIs in Karnataka are undergoing a major makeover to keep pace with the requirements of Industry 4.0. A plan to upgrade the institutes is being prepared where the students will be trained in latest technologies to take up self-employment, or  absorbed in the related industry. 

Karnataka to set up modern skilling institute near airport: The government of Karnataka will set up a modern skilling institution on a 10-acre campus near Nandi Hills in about a year and half. The institute will coach master trainers who will train students at skilling institutes such as industrial training institutes (ITI) across India.

Odisha to transform ITIs into centres of excellence: The government of Odisha is going to transform ITIs into COEs as the State is making rapid strides in skill development and 11 industrial training institutes (ITIs) have been ranked among top-100 in the country.

    National Skill Network should start a course on auto detailing, home, office, hotels, hospital detailing which can bring in lot of job opportunity for youths across the country. This course will help India to fight covid, and other such deadly virus , bacteria etc.
