Kurukshetra University to conduct short term skill development courses: Kurukshetra University (KU) has announced short term skill development courses for the session 2019-20.

UGC launches “Jeevan Kaushal”, a life skills programme for undergraduate courses: The University Grants Commission (UGC) had recently launched “Jeevan Kaushal”, a life skills programme in the curriculum for undergraduate courses across the country.Ethics and etiquettes of social media, how to use Google search better, yoga and pranayama and resume writing are part of this curriculum.

NIIT Limited awarded as best Vocational & Skill Development Training Institute at Franchise Awards 2019: At the 17th Franchise Awards 2019, NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, has won the award under Education Category for ‘Vocational & Skill Development Training Institute’. 

Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) launches ‘green’ skill training course on air pollution: Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) will help India’s youth to get employment or self-employment in the environment or forest sector through a practical and applied training course in the field of atmosphere and environment.

NSDC signs an MoU with Takamol Holding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: NSDC signed an MoU with Takamol Holding (Semi Governmental agency), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Skill Verification Program in India for migrating workforce. 

Delhi is going to get its first skill and entrepreneurship university: The university will have a capacity of 50,000 students and and it will merger Industrial Training Institutions (ITIs), polytechnics and skill development centres in the national capital.

State governments and industry commit 7 Lakh apprentices for the current fiscal year: The 15-day Apprenticeship Pakhwada, that saw State Governments and the industry come together for a commitment of 7 lakh apprentices in the current fiscal, ended in a grand closing ceremony in the capital today. Mahindra inaugurates India’s first all-women workshop in Jaipur: Mahindra & Mahindra first all-women-run automobile service workshop in Jaipur is part of the company’s larger initiative named ‘Pink Collars’ to promote recruitment of women in core productive roles across the company’s automobile workshops.

Intelligent plans SEZ for footwear manufacturing in Andhra: Hong Kong-based Intelligent SEZ Development Ltd on Wednesday proposed to establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for footwear manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 700 crore. The facility will have job potential for 10,000 people, mostly women.

Maruti Suzuki India invests Rs 154 crore in CSR activities in FY2019: Maruti Suzuki India has invested over Rs. 154 crore towards its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives during FY 2018-19. The company says its CSR efforts are focused on community development, road safety and skill development. The investment has grown by 23.2 percent from Rs 125.08 crore in FY2017-18.

Numaligarh Refinery to invest Rs 62 crore in CSR activities in Assam: North East India’s largest refiner Numaligarh Refinery Ltd will spend over Rs 60 crore in various developmental projects under its CSR activities in Assam during 2019- 20.
