UP Government seeks industry inputs to improve skill development courses by inviting business leaders from over 200 companies :The Uttar Pradesh government sought inputs from industry leaders to improve its skill development courses in order to create more employment opportunities for the youth in the state.

More incentives from Finance Minister for Electric Vehicles: India’s dream of becoming a leader in electric vehicles got a further boost since the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs announced an additional tax relief of Rs 1.5 lakh on the interest paid on loans availed for purchasing electric vehicles.

Skill development schemes under different ministries to be merged in the next phase: The next phase of the PMKVY, to be rolled out between in 2020-25, would be more comprehensive and consolidated with better involvement of the state governments and greater convergence of similar programmes running in other ministries. The skill development schemes under different ministries would be merged.

Chanakya IAS Academy signs MoU with MEPSC for introducing vocational courses: To boost the initiative of ‘Skill India’, Chanakya IAS Academy signs MoU with Management and Entrepreneurship and Professional skill Council to introduce vocational courses across PAN India.

ELSA to improve English speaking skills in India: English Language Speech Assistant or ELSA, a Google-funded artificial intelligence application launched in the country to improve English speaking skills in India.

IIITs and NITs to get lessons from IT biggies on future technology and skills: Leading software and IT services companies like Infosys, Accenture and TCS are working with universities and engineering colleges across the country to help students gear up for modern job requirements by modifying their curricula and training faculty on newer technologies.

Kia Seltos launching in India and the company opens 192 dealerships across India: The Kia Seltos will launch in India later this month and ahead of it the South Korean carmaker has set up 192 dealerships across 160 cities in India and all its dealerships will also feature Kia’s internet of things theme or the Kia link App which means digital purchase and after sales services will be available at all Kia dealerships.

UNIDO and NISE to collaborate for skill development program: An agreement was signed between the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to initiate a skill development programme for different levels of beneficiaries in the solar thermal energy sector.

Skill training program launched by Ambuja Cement Foundation in partnership with Hindustan Zinc launches: Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) and mining company Hindustan Zinc Limited, inaugurated a skill development centre at Rapura Dariba Mine, Rajasthan. This partnership aims to provide training to almost 3,000 unemployed youth in skilled trades like Assistant Electrician, Domestic Data Entry Operator, Sales Associate, Unarmed Security Guard and Micro Finance Executive, thereby ensuing maximum placement opportunities.

Skill development news from the states

CM wants job-oriented courses introduced in Goa: Chief Minister of Goa wants career oriented courses to be introduced from the next academic year. He has directed the departments of education and higher education to examine the current curriculum and eliminate courses that don’t offer vertical growth.

Skill training for 10,000 youth in Jammu and Kashmir: Under the J&K Skill Development Mission, the technical education department, is imparting training to 10,566 youth in 22 job-oriented sectors. Almost 5,000 candidates have completed training, out of which 1,014 candidates have found placements so far.

ASCI and KPFBA collaborate or skill development in poultry sector: The Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association (KPFBA) announced that the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), is collaborating with the KPFBA for expanding skill development in the poultry agriculture ecosystem in the state.

National Skill Training Institute to be set up in Manipur by MSDE: The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has agreed to establish National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in Manipur for north-eastern region based on the assurance of the Manipur Government to support in setting it up.
