Key features of SWAYAM Plus include multilingual content, an AI-enabled chatbot for personalized course selection, and credit recognition for courses offered by industry players, providing academic flexibility.
SWAYAM Plus is set to enhance the employability of both college students and lifelong learners by offering programs in sectors such as,
- Banking, Finance Services and Insurance
- Digital and Emerging Technologies
- Engineering
- Healthcare
- Indian Knowledge Systems
- Information Technology and Services
- Media, Communication and Soft Skills

- Others
These courses are designed to equip learners with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills demanded by the job market, making them more job-ready and competitive in their respective fields.
During the launch event, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted how SWAYAM Plus aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, providing a platform for individuals to pursue education at their own pace and balance work and studies effectively. This initiative aims to make education industry-fit, empowering learners to upskill and reskill, thereby contributing to India’s knowledge economy.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasized the growing demand for trained manpower across various sectors and how SWAYAM Plus serves as a solution to meet this demand by offering relevant courses.
Additionally, Prof. R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning) and Faculty, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras, highlighted the importance of this initiative in bridging the gap between academia and industry, offering internship opportunities and credit recognition for skill-based courses.
