Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) skilling initiatives in North Eastern Region

Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) is coming up with many initiatives to promote skill development in North Eastern India . On 27th they signed an MOU with the Assam University for strategic collaboration in skilling the youth of Assam in the area of media and entertainment. On 30th MESC attended the International Conference-“Cinematic Tourism”. This was a very successful event where the role of MESC in the North-Eastern Regions was discussed. Below are more details on both the events.

Signing an MOU with Assam University

Media and Entertainment Skills Council and Assam University (AU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 27th June 2017. The two organizations expressed their intention to associate for youth employability, towards media education and skill development. MESC will implement this collaboration within the framework to enhance the quality of the employable skills of the unemployment youths of North Eastern Region.

MESC and AU aim to develop programmes of common interest to promote Industry and business relevant skills as AU is one of the major institutions in North-eastern belt. Both parties believe that this association will open up new pathways for M&E sector and build a strong arm contributing towards GDP growth and employability for the entire state. Media and entertainment skills council attaches great importance to collaboration with Assam University to assist them with Media and Entertainment Qualification Packs and National Occupational standards, ensuring quality of trainers, developing special courses and deploy media courses in all programmes which will help the youth to proliferate their career in M&E industry. This will substantially expand the prospects of developing projects aimed at creating a culture of Skill development. This will help in bridging the difference for the youth around the globe through a lot of studios in which practical/live training can occur will be able to set up in North Eastern Region (NER). This will open doors of occupation for students in NER in media and entertaiment industry.

MESC media skillsRepresentation of Media and Entertainment Skills Council Team on 30th June 2017 in JW Mumbai at International Conference-Cinematic Tourism North East and ASEAN Calling was a great experience. All the brilliant minds at the discussion panel expressed their thoughts about how the media sector and industry can flourish in North East. The COO of MESC, Mohit Soni along with Chief Ministers of North East state and the Ambassador of ASEAN Countries (Thailand, Indonesia,Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brune) made the conference more proficient by giving out expert ideas to help these countries get through the mainstream.

The amazing success of the conference in making mankind believe the facts about how the media and entertainment industry can really do wonders in North East Region. The session included people from around the globe showcasing their talent and scope in North Eastern countries. The growth that can be expected and predicted in the future of M&E industry was evident. The media giants present at the conference contributed to the knowledge and with the presence of MESC, the session became even more meaningful.
