Whether it is a raising skyscraper, railway coaches or the power grids, welders play an integral role in infrastructure development and manufacturing. And, did you know that April is the National Welding Month? To recognise and celebrate the contributions of welders across the globe, the month of April is recognised as the National Welding Month by the American Welding Society. Dedicating a month to welding gives an opportunity to everyone in the industry to commemorate it and thereby adding an aspirational value to the job role.

Fronius India’s social media campaign for National Welding Month

To celebrate April as the National Welding Month, Fronius India started a social media campaign to showcase welding professionals. The campaign is named as Joining Specialists – “The Real Heroes. The campaign is shared across Fronius India’s social media platforms in the form of a video, where the Joining Specialists share their experiences in welding, why they like welding and what made them choose it. The campaign aims to capture the authentic accounts of Joining Specialists from different parts of the country and showcase them to the world.

With the campaign – Joining Specialists – “The Real Heroes”, Fronius India would like it to reach much aspiring Youth in the country, to come and join the welding industry as a Welding Specialist or a Joining Specialist. The motivation to join the welding workforce is necessary, as the welding Industry projects a global shortage of skilled manpower by the end of 2020.

National Welding Month and campaigns like this give us a chance to keep the welding industry in the spotlight and to enhance the skills and abilities of the welders through education, recognition, and mentorship.

Fronius India social media campaign National Welding MonthJourneys of some of the Joining Specialists from Fronius India:

Let’s meet Umesh Jagtap

Measures taken by Fronius India to make welding aspirational

With an aim to keep the welder’s fraternity motivated and up to date with the latest developments in the industry, Fronius India conducts basic training sessions in welding for free of cost. Fronius conducts these classes on a monthly basis in the cities of Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, and Kolkata.

To create awareness about welding among the youth and professionals, Fronius also conducts, Training of Trainer (TOT) programs with various ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) located across the country.

To address the skill gap among the welding professionals, along with adding aspirational value to the job role of a welder, Fronius India has taken several steps in that direction. Because the low aspirational value of the job role is what stops the youth from joining as a welder. And the industry faces a shortage of skilled and trained welding workforce. That is why Fronius India has begun addressing all the welding professionals as the Joining Specialists. Just changing the name of their designation adds the much-needed aspirational value to the job role of a welder.
